LIVESTOCK: TARABA STATE UNIVERSITY JALINGO TO PARTNERS L-PRES - VC.

The Vice Chancellor, Taraba State University, (TSU) Professor Paul Sunday Bako, said the Institution is ready to partner with the World Bank, through the Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project (LPRES). Prof. Bako  disclosed this, when the National Project Coordinator (NPC) of the Livestock productivity And Resilience Support Project, (L-PRES) Mr. Sanusi Abubakar, led the team of National Specialists from the L-PRES National Coordination Office (NCO) to him in Jalingo, the Taraba State Capital, recently. TRAFFICKING: "We must fight against Human Trafficking ". Dr Filister Irarimam Commissioner of Social Justice and Reinterpretation Taraba State.

Taraba state government has reaffirmed its commitment to fighting against human trafficking in the state. The commissioner for Social Justice and reintegration, Doctor Filister Irarimam Musa, reiterated this in an awareness campaign at the Jalingo Main Motor Park, in commemoration of this world against Trafficking in Persons. The Commissioner in her address, emphasized that trafficking in persons is a gross violation of human rights that dehumanizes the victims and destroys their future and that of society. The Commissioner added that the campaign is a global fight against the trafficking of persons, also pledging the unwavering determination of the Agbu Kefas-led administration in combating the menace, through law enforcement, awareness creation and victim-centred intervention. SECURITY: Ahead of the Nationwide protest NSCDSC deployed 1550 personnel in Taraba State to protect National assets and Infrastructure.

The Commandant Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps Taraba State Command ,Adamu Salihu has called on personnel of the NSCDC to show utmost professionalism in their conduct during the planned nationwide protests scheduled to commence tomorrow Thursday 1st July 2024. The call is contained in a press statement signed by the Command's Spokesman,SC Iliya Samaila issued to Jalingo Times.    The statement revealed that the Commandant made the call during a  high powered meeting involving all Heads of Department, Unit Heads, Area Commanders and  Divisional Officers held at the NSCDC Command Headquarters Jalingo to perfect plans on security coverage during the protest.    The statement added that during the meeting ,the Commandant told all the heads of formations and tactical units to ensure synergy with sister security agencies in order to forestall possible outbreak of violence.     The Commandant said the most important mandate of the NS...

PROTEST: President of Taraba State University Alumni Association, Mark Winnie cautions members against joining the Nationwide Hunger Protest.

Members of the Taraba State University Jalingo Alumni Association have been cautioned not to join the planned protest on August 1. This is contained in a press statement signed and issued by the President of Taraba State University Alumni Association, Comr. Mark Yusuf Winnie(Macsolo) to Jalingo Times Newspaper. The Association says it shared in the hardship Nigerians are facing day by day due to the harsh economy and some unfriendly policies of the federal government resulting in a high cost of living in the country. The Association while acknowledging that protest is a fundamental human right enshrined in the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria but cautioned that hoodlums could hijack or take advantage of the moment to destroy public property adding that there is room for dialogue. STATE OF THE NATION: Taraba Ex-Gov Nyame warns the Yorro Community not to join the planned nationwide protest.

The Former Governor of Taraba State Reverend Jolly Nyame has warned the people of the Yorro Community not to join the Planned National protest. The former Governor made the call during a press briefing at the Catholic Pastoral Centre Mile Six Jalingo. Jolly Nyame said the planned Protest was not for the good of Nigeria urging the people not to join but he asked the government to provide means of making life bearable for the masses. According to him, the protest can only worsen the situation and endanger the lives of thousands of people. GENDER BASED VIOLENCE: Abolish social norms detrimental to societal growth- Nashuka to participants in Kurmi LGA.

Executive Director Safe Environment and Community Health Initiative Comr Nashuka Fidelis has advocated the abolishment of social norms that perpetuate Gender-Based Violence, GBV in Taraba State. Nashuka Fidelis made the advocacy during a sensitization program for traditional and religious leaders on the Prevention of Violence Against Women and Girls in Nigeria at Baissa, Kurmi Local government area. The Resource person explained that due to respect people accord social norms in the society and failure to change them it has continued to encourage Gender Based Violence GBV the trend he described as detrimental to the progress of the State. TARABA SWAN ELECTION: Comr. Sani Suleiman of FRCN emerged as Chairman of the Association.

Taraba State Chapter of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, SWAN has elected new officials to pilot the affairs of the Association for the next three years. The new officials include Sani Suleiman, Chairman, Nahum Sule,Financial Secretary and Charles Akpeji,Secretary. Others are Ruth Rimamsikwe,Treasurer,Jude Gandu,Vice Chairman and Mansura Sadiq Moyoyo,Welfare Officer. CHURCH: Pastor Mark Tikwe of Christ Glorious Army Church Mile Six Jalingo has encouraged Christians to promote unity.

The Christ Glorious Army Church Mile Six today observed Cultural Sunday as members Praise God in the various local dialects. In a sermon, the Resident pastor of Christ Glorious Army Church Mile Six Jalingo Mark Tikwe urged Christians to be united to succeed in winning more souls to the Kingdom of God. Pastor Mark Tikwe said while delivering a sermon during a Sunday service marking Cultural Day. The preacher tagged the sermon ' Understanding the Power of Unity ' and said when people unite they tend to achieve tangible results in all they desires to do. GBV: UN Women, WOWICAN Taraba State Chapter takes the Sensitization on Gender Based Violence,GBV to Kurmi LGA.

People of Kurmi Local government area has been asked to support the course of ending Gender Based Violence GBV in the area. The Chairperson Women Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria, WOWICAN Taraba State Chapter Deaconess Mercy Sambo made the call during a sensitization program for traditional and religious leaders on the Prevention of Violence Against Women and Girls in Nigeria at the Council Hall in Baissa. The Chairperson said the WOWICAN in collaboration with the United Nations UN Women deemed it fit to organise the sensitization as Kurmi in recent statistics was ranked second in GBV. Chairman of Kurmi Local Government Council Hon Moses Maihankali has been presented with a merit Award for supporting the educational sector. WATER SECTOR: Jalingo Five million litres water reservoir contractors working to meet the deadline in August- MD Engr.Siam.

The Managing Director of Taraba State Water and Sewerage Corporation TAWASCO, Engineer  Buba Musa Siam says contractors are working hard to complete the five Million litres multi-purpose water reservoir in Jalingo. The MD gave the assurance while speaking in an interview with our reporter in Jalingo. Engineer Buba Siam maintained that the contractors are putting more effort into ensuring that they complete the water project before the August dateline given to them by Governor Agbu Kefas elapses. He explained that the water reservoir project is at the stage of installation of mechanical and electrical equipment such as water pumps and meters among others. Siam expressed hope that if completed the water reservoir will improve water supply to customers within the Jalingo metropolis. CRIME: Hon Sinjen,CP David Visited a teenager falsely accused of stealing money and was maltreated in Taraba State.

Taraba State Commissioner Ministry of Women Affairs and Child Development Hon Mary Sinjen has visited a teenager accused of stealing N5000 and was tortured by her guardians in the state. The delegation  led by the Honorable Commissioner of Women Affairs and Child Development, Mrs Mary Sinjen, had Taraba State Commissioner of Police, CP David Iloyanomon in attendance. Mrs Sinjen  during the visit,condemned the heinous act and assured the family that the perpetrators would be brought to book, emphasizing that such cruelty would not be tolerated.  The Commissioner encouraged Bridget's father to take advantage of the free education policy introduced by Taraba State Governor, Dr Agbu Kefas to enrol his other children into school instead of relying on others for sponsorship.
