PROTEST: President of Taraba State University Alumni Association, Mark Winnie cautions members against joining the Nationwide Hunger Protest.

Members of the Taraba State University Jalingo Alumni Association have been cautioned not to join the planned protest on August 1.

This is contained in a press statement signed and issued by the President of Taraba State University Alumni Association, Comr. Mark Yusuf Winnie(Macsolo) to Jalingo Times Newspaper.
The Association says it shared in the hardship Nigerians are facing day by day due to the harsh economy and some unfriendly policies of the federal government resulting in a high cost of living in the country.
The Association while acknowledging that protest is a fundamental human right enshrined in the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria but cautioned that hoodlums could hijack or take advantage of the moment to destroy public property adding that there is room for dialogue.
The Statement says President Bola Tinubu also deserve accolades for Local Government Autonomy among other youth-friendly policies he has introduced.
The Association said that although the Planned Protest is a Nationwide youths in Taraba State should not join as Governor Agbu Kefas has been a youth-friendly leader.
It mentioned the appointment of Youths into the Taraba State Government Cabinet, and the free Education policy introduced , slashing of tuition fees for students at State-Owned tertiary institutions among others as enough reasons for Taraba Youth not to join the protest.
It also reeled out Dr Agbu Kefas's Agricultural policy, peace initiative being enjoyed in the state be sustained as joining the protest could distort the peace.
The Association urges its members to Say no to protest and embrace dialogue in the interest of progress.

INSECURITY: Two suspected kidnappers nabbed in Mayo Dassa, Jalingo.

Troops of six Brigade Nigerian Army headquarters ,Jalingo have dismantled a notorious kidnapping syndicate terrorizing parts of Jalingo and Lau Local Government Areas of Taraba State.  A statement by Acting Assistant Director Army Public Relations Six Brigade Nigeria Army headquarters, Jalingo, Captain Olubodunde Oni says the Brigade act on an intelligence report and two suspects, identified as Ali Idi and Haruna Umar were apprehended early this week. The statement adds that the culprits were captured during a raid at a local hotel in Mayo Dassa area of Jalingo metropolis where they were hiding.  It adds that Further investigations led to the discovery that the gang's hideout was at Kona Mountain in Jalingo , where additional members of the syndicate were believed to be camped. RELIGION: UMC-N Bishop Ande Emmanuel decries continual tensions,calls on Gov.Agbu to waive into the matter.

The Resident Bishop United Methodist Church Nigeria  Episcopal Area, Ande Emmanuel has decried continual tensions impacting the church in Nigeria. The Bishop, in a Press briefing in Jalingo, condemned any act of violence or disrespect to the church, referencing the attack at Banyan Theological Seminary in the Bambur Community of Karim Lamido Local government area. He remarked that the Seminary established in 1946 by the United Methodist Church agencies and donors has been manned by the church and has continued to fund the Seminary that has trained many clergy of the UMC, including him.
