The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Taraba State Chapter, has called for the immediate arrest and prosecution of those responsible for the killing of a commercial tricycle rider, Jesse, in Jalingo, describing the incident as a barbaric act that must not go unpunished. The Council made the call in a statement issued on Thursday by its State Public Relations Officer, Comrade Cornelius Henry Yamnchur, following the death of the rider after a reported misunderstanding at Angwan Kasa, Jalingo. Troops of the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have rescued two kidnapped victims during a coordinated offensive operation in Lau Local Government Area of Taraba State. The rescue followed a fighting patrol launched in the early hours of Saturday, 26 July 2026, after troops received credible intelligence on kidnapping activities around the Lande Jessi general area.
