INDUCTION:TSU Inducts 168 Medical Laboratory Science Graduates, Charges Them to Uphold Professional Excellence.

 Taraba State University (TSU), Jalingo, has inducted 168 graduates of its Department of Medical Laboratory Science into the profession, charging them to uphold the highest standards of ethics, integrity and professionalism as they begin their careers in healthcare.

The induction and oath-taking ceremony, the second since the establishment of the programme, brought together top officials of the university, representatives of the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN), traditional rulers, parents, lecturers and well-wishers to celebrate the milestone.

Speaking at the event, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Sunday Paul Bako, described the occasion as a landmark achievement for both the institution and the graduates. He congratulated the inductees on successfully completing years of rigorous academic and laboratory training, noting that they had transitioned from students to licensed professionals prepared to make meaningful contributions to the nation's healthcare system.

Prof. Bako urged the newly inducted Medical Laboratory Scientists to embrace lifelong learning, stressing that rapid technological advancements continue to reshape laboratory medicine, disease diagnosis and patient care. He encouraged them to remain committed to continuous professional development in order to stay relevant in the evolving medical field.

The Vice-Chancellor also commended Governor Dr. Agbu Kefas for his sustained support for education and healthcare training in Taraba State. He further lauded the lecturers and staff of the Department of Medical Laboratory Science for their dedication and mentorship, which he said had contributed significantly to the success of the programme. He urged the graduates to serve as worthy ambassadors of Taraba State University during their internship, National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) and future professional engagements.

In his remarks, the Head of the Department of Medical Laboratory Science, Dr. Emmanuel Kashibu, expressed gratitude to the university management, led by Prof. Bako, for its unwavering commitment to the growth of the programme. He also acknowledged the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria for its continued guidance and support, describing the Council as a key partner in the department's development.

A major highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of a professional licence to the overall best graduating student, who recorded an outstanding CGPA of 4.72, in recognition of exceptional academic performance. The 168 graduates were thereafter administered the professional oath, officially admitting them into the Medical Laboratory Science profession.

Dignitaries at the ceremony included the Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria, Dr. Donald Ofili, represented by a delegate; the Special Adviser to the Governor on Political Matters, Rt. Hon. Prof. Josiah Sabo Kente; the Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, Dr. Rhoda Onyekwena; and representatives of traditional institutions, including HRH Ezekiel Bairik Augustine of the Ardo-Kola Traditional Council. The event underscored Taraba State University's growing reputation as a centre of excellence in health sciences education and its commitment to producing competent healthcare professionals.

INSECURITY:Bissaula Community Leader Raises Alarm Over Renewed Attack, Calls for Lasting Security Deployment.

A community leader in Bissaula Ward of Kurmi Local Government Area, Taraba State, Alhaji Idi Ismaila, has decried a fresh wave of violence that disrupted the fragile peace recently restored to the area. He made the remarks during a press briefing where he recounted the latest attack and appealed for urgent government intervention. According to Ismaila, the Bissaula community was thrown into panic on Wednesday, 19 November 2025, at about 8:00 p.m., when unknown gunmen, suspected to be members of the Ndaka-Chamba militia, stormed the village and opened fire. Their primary target was said to be Baba Umaru Gambo, a former youth leader of the community and current Commander of the Taraba Marshal in Kurmi Local Government Area. INSECURITY: Two suspected kidnappers nabbed in Mayo Dassa, Jalingo.

Troops of six Brigade Nigerian Army headquarters ,Jalingo have dismantled a notorious kidnapping syndicate terrorizing parts of Jalingo and Lau Local Government Areas of Taraba State.  A statement by Acting Assistant Director Army Public Relations Six Brigade Nigeria Army headquarters, Jalingo, Captain Olubodunde Oni says the Brigade act on an intelligence report and two suspects, identified as Ali Idi and Haruna Umar were apprehended early this week. The statement adds that the culprits were captured during a raid at a local hotel in Mayo Dassa area of Jalingo metropolis where they were hiding.  It adds that Further investigations led to the discovery that the gang's hideout was at Kona Mountain in Jalingo , where additional members of the syndicate were believed to be camped.
