CRIMES: Troops Rescue Two Kidnap Victims in Taraba Rescue Operation.

Troops of the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have rescued two kidnapped victims during a coordinated offensive operation in Lau Local Government Area of Taraba State.

The rescue followed a fighting patrol launched in the early hours of Saturday, 26 July 2026, after troops received credible intelligence on kidnapping activities around the Lande Jessi general area. The intelligence indicated that armed criminals had invaded Tashan Musa and Barkindan Fulani villages, abducted two residents and made away with food items.

According to a statement issued by the Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 6 Brigade Nigerian Army, Lieutenant Umar Muhammad, troops immediately commenced targeted search-and-rescue operations across the affected communities.

The operation led to the successful rescue of the two victims, identified as Usman Mohammed and Usman Harusu, who were reportedly held in captivity for about one week before regaining their freedom.

Commander of the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army and Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke, Brigadier General Chukwuemeka Michael Akaliro, commended the troops for their swift response, professionalism and resilience, describing the successful operation as a demonstration of the military's commitment to protecting lives and property in Taraba State.

He said the operation was in line with the directive of the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu NAM, to decisively tackle criminality and restore lasting peace across the country, urging the troops to sustain the offensive against criminal elements.

Brigadier General Akaliro also reassured residents of the Nigerian Army's continued commitment to safeguarding law-abiding citizens and appealed to members of the public to support security agencies by providing timely and credible information to aid ongoing operations.

A community leader in Bissaula Ward of Kurmi Local Government Area, Taraba State, Alhaji Idi Ismaila, has decried a fresh wave of violence that disrupted the fragile peace recently restored to the area. INSECURITY: Two suspected kidnappers nabbed in Mayo Dassa, Jalingo.

Troops of six Brigade Nigerian Army headquarters ,Jalingo have dismantled a notorious kidnapping syndicate terrorizing parts of Jalingo and Lau Local Government Areas of Taraba State.
