Jalingo Tricycle Rider's Killing: NYCN Demands Swift Justice, Warns Against Jungle Justice.

The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Taraba State Chapter, has called for the immediate arrest and prosecution of those responsible for the killing of a commercial tricycle rider, Jesse, in Jalingo, describing the incident as a barbaric act that must not go unpunished.

The Council made the call in a statement issued on Thursday by its State Public Relations Officer, Comrade Cornelius Henry Yamnchur, following the death of the rider after a reported misunderstanding at Angwan Kasa, Jalingo.

Reacting to the incident, the State Chairman of the Council, Comrade Hapson Haruna Babale, said the killing was unacceptable and a direct assault on the sanctity of human life, stressing that no individual has the right to take the law into his or her own hands.

He urged the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies to launch a comprehensive, impartial and transparent investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident and ensure that all those involved are identified, arrested and prosecuted.

"Justice must not only be done but must also be seen to be done," Babale stated, adding that anyone found culpable should face the full weight of the law.

The NYCN chairman noted that the right to life is guaranteed by the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and warned that acts of jungle justice have no place in a democratic society governed by the rule of law.

He appealed to residents of Jalingo to remain peaceful and refrain from taking the law into their own hands, while encouraging youths across Taraba State to embrace dialogue and lawful means of resolving disagreements.

Babale also commended young people striving to earn a legitimate living, assuring that the Youth Council would closely monitor the case to ensure justice is served for the deceased.

The Council expressed heartfelt condolences to the family, friends and associates of the late Jesse, praying that God grants them the strength to bear the painful loss.

Reaffirming its role as the umbrella body for youths in the state, the NYCN pledged to continue advocating for the protection of young people, respect for the rule of law and the preservation of the fundamental rights of every Nigerian.

INSECURITY: Two suspected kidnappers nabbed in Mayo Dassa, Jalingo.

Troops of six Brigade Nigerian Army headquarters ,Jalingo have dismantled a notorious kidnapping syndicate terrorizing parts of Jalingo and Lau Local Government Areas of Taraba State.
