Women from diverse political and social backgrounds in Taraba State have reaffirmed their commitment to mobilising grassroots support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Agbu Kefas ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The women made the commitment at a mobilisation and endorsement summit held at the Banquet Hall, Government House, Jalingo, where participants pledged to strengthen their engagement in party activities and promote peaceful political participation.
Speaking at the summit, the wife of the Taraba State Governor, Mrs Agyin Agbu Kefas, said the gathering was aimed at amplifying women's voices and recognising their contributions to national development, community building and democratic governance.
She commended President Tinubu and Governor Kefas for their efforts to address challenges facing Nigerians, particularly women and vulnerable groups, while urging women to remain united, promote peace and participate actively in political and community development initiatives.
Mrs Kefas called on the women to translate the spirit of the summit into meaningful grassroots engagement, stressing that their participation was essential to strengthening democracy and advancing sustainable development.
Earlier, the Taraba State APC Women Leader, Princess Margaret Se-ember welcomed participants and commended them for the massive turnout, describing it as a demonstration of women's political strength and commitment.
She explained that the summit was organised to endorse President Tinubu and Governor Kefas, while building a stronger mobilisation structure among women ahead of the 2027 elections.
Also speaking, the Director-General of the Agbu Kefas Campaign Council, Danladi Baido, said the governor had delivered dividends of democracy within his years in office. He urged political stakeholders to focus on verifiable achievements rather than sycophancy in their campaigns.
In her goodwill message, the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Child Development, Mary Sinjen, cautioned women against anti-party activities, noting that such conduct could undermine party cohesion and political progress.
She said the summit was also designed to harmonise support from various women's groups and strengthen the APC's grassroots campaign structure ahead of the elections.
The highlight of the event was the endorsement of President Tinubu and Governor Kefas by representatives of the three senatorial districts of Taraba State—North, Central and South—as well as persons with disabilities, non-governmental organisations and other participating groups.
The endorsements, according to the organisers, reflected the participants' declared support for the leadership of Tinubu and Kefas ahead of the 2027 general elections.
