POLITICS 2027: APM Candidate Unveils Five-Year Development Blueprint for Karim-Lamido, Lau, Ardo-Kola.

By Jako Keke, [Jalingo Times] October 15, 2026.

The Action Peoples Movement (APM) candidate for Karim-Lamido, Lau and Ardo-Kola Federal Constituency in the 2027 House of Representatives election, Hon. Richard Emmanuel Benjamin, has unveiled a five-year constituency development blueprint aimed at addressing infrastructure deficits, boosting economic opportunities and improving the welfare of residents.

The blueprint, titled My Constituency Development Blueprint, outlines a development framework for the 2027–2031 period, covering the constituency's 31 wards under the guiding principles of Connect, Produce, Empower and Represent.

Benjamin said the plan was designed to address persistent challenges affecting the three local government areas, including inadequate road networks, limited agricultural infrastructure, youth unemployment, women's economic challenges, and gaps in education, healthcare and basic community facilities.

In the document, the APM candidate described the people of Karim-Lamido, Lau and Ardo-Kola as hardworking citizens whose livelihoods depend largely on agriculture, fishing, commerce, public service, education and small businesses.

He noted that despite the constituency's considerable human and economic potential, inadequate infrastructure and limited access to economic opportunities continued to constrain development.

According to him, the blueprint seeks to establish clear development priorities, pursue federal government interventions, build strategic partnerships, monitor projects and maintain transparent communication with constituents throughout the proposed five-year period.

Benjamin stressed that development should be assessed by its impact on people's lives, the opportunities created and the communities connected, rather than the number of promises made by political officeholders.

He said the framework was not a promise to address every challenge at once but a commitment to pursue practical, measurable and sustainable interventions across the 31 wards.

The candidate's development agenda places particular emphasis on connecting communities, strengthening productive activities, empowering young people and women, and ensuring effective representation of the constituency's interests at the National Assembly.

Benjamin expressed optimism that a focused development strategy, backed by partnerships and accountability, could help farmers access markets, improve opportunities for small businesses and support better learning environments and basic infrastructure.

He called for a development approach that ensures all 31 wards benefit from targeted interventions, while pledging to prioritise transparency and regular engagement with the people.

The blueprint forms part of Benjamin's political agenda ahead of the 2027 general election, as he seeks a mandate to represent Karim-Lamido, Lau and Ardo-Kola Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.

The document presents a proposed development framework; its implementation would depend on the candidate securing election and pursuing the outlined priorities through the appropriate legislative, budgetary and constituency-development processes.
