The Taraba State Emergency Management Agency (TSEMA) has received Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) from the Kwa tribe who fled their homes in Jakan community, Adamawa State, following a prolonged communal crisis.
The displaced persons are currently taking refuge in Bwei Baba, Makko and Donadda communities in Donadda Ward of Lau Local Government Area, Taraba State, after fleeing the conflict between the Kpasham and Kwa communities in Adamawa State.
The crisis has reportedly resulted in loss of lives, destruction of property and severe hardship for affected residents, forcing the displaced persons to seek safety in neighbouring Taraba State.
The Executive Secretary of TSEMA, Dr Echuseh Audu, who spoke on behalf of the Taraba State Government, assured the displaced persons of the government's commitment to their safety and well-being.
Audu reaffirmed the commitment of Governor Agbu Kefas's administration to providing immediate humanitarian assistance to the affected persons to alleviate their suffering and address their urgent needs.
She also assured the displaced persons that the state government remained concerned about their welfare as they cope with the consequences of the crisis.
The development underscores the humanitarian challenges posed by communal conflicts and the need for timely intervention to support displaced persons and other vulnerable populations.
