The Network of Civil Society Organizations Against Child Trafficking, Abuse and Labour (NACTAL)Nigeria has inaugurated its new national leadership for the 2026–2030 tenure, with Mrs Sarah David Ibi of Taraba State emerging as National Vice President of the organisation.
The inauguration and presentation of certificates of return to the newly elected officers took place in Abuja, marking a new phase in the organisation’s efforts to combat child trafficking, abuse and labour while strengthening support for survivors.
Ibi, who represents Taraba State and the North-East geopolitical zone in the national leadership, described her emergence as a collective achievement, expressing gratitude to colleagues, civil society advocates and supporters for their solidarity throughout her years of service.
In a statement following the presentation of her certificate of return, she said her election was not a personal victory but a responsibility shared by all those committed to human emancipation, the protection of vulnerable persons and the provision of psychosocial support and recovery services for survivors of trafficking and abuse.
She particularly acknowledged the Chairperson of the NACTAL Board of Trustees, Her Excellency, Chief Dr Titi Atiku Abubakar, who presented her certificate of return, describing her as a mentor whose influence had contributed significantly to her professional and humanitarian journey.
Ibi disclosed that she served for 16 years, from 2004 to 2018, as Taraba State Coordinator of the Women Trafficking and Child Labour Eradication Foundation (WOTCLEF), where she gained experience in advocacy, public enlightenment and efforts to eradicate human trafficking and child labour.
She attributed her commitment to the cause partly to the biblical account of Joseph, whom she described as a trafficked victim and survivor, saying the story had remained a source of inspiration throughout her voluntary service.
The new NACTAL vice president pledged to represent Taraba State, the North-East zone and Nigeria at large with dedication, while advancing the organisation’s mission of protecting vulnerable people and supporting survivors towards recovery and reintegration.
She also expressed gratitude to God for the opportunity to serve, praying for guidance and strength as she assumes the responsibilities of her new office.
Meanwhile, the newly inaugurated national executive officers of NACTAL are led by Osita Samuel Osemene as National President, with Sarah David Ibi as National Vice President.
Other members of the national executive include Enwelum Ogechukwu Uzoamaka, National Secretary; Kalejaiye Olasunkanmi, National Assistant Secretary; Eunice Oghale Odeghe, National Financial Secretary; Ahmad Hashim, National Internal Auditor; Andrew Azubuike Duru, National Public Relations Officer; Adedeji John Oludare, National Treasurer; and Aremu Samuel Adeniyi, National Legal Adviser.
The elected zonal coordinators include Eucheria Onyemaobi for the South-East, Ejalonibu Ezekiel Agboola for the South-West, Kabiru Musa for the North-West, Vera Roli Igbinadolor for the North-Central and Amb. Dr. Grace Maikud North-East Zone.
The new leadership is expected to provide direction for NACTAL’s advocacy and interventions against human trafficking, child abuse and exploitative labour, while strengthening collaboration among civil society organisations, government institutions and other stakeholders.
Ibi’s emergence as National Vice President represents an opportunity for Taraba State and the North-East to contribute to national efforts to prevent trafficking, protect vulnerable populations and improve support services for survivors.
