The Executive Chairman of Takum Local Government Council, Hon. Bako Benjamin, has received the leadership and members of the Kutumbu Group, who pledged their support for Governor Agbu Kefas ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The group paid a courtesy visit to the chairman at his office in Takum, where discussions centred on unity, peace, development and the Make Takum Great Again (MATAGA) movement.
Speaking during the meeting, Bako appreciated the group for identifying with the MATAGA vision, which he said was aimed at promoting development and strengthening unity across Takum Local Government Area.
He highlighted what he described as key achievements of the Kefas administration in Takum and other parts of Taraba State, particularly in the areas of peace and security, infrastructure and education.
According to the chairman, the restoration of peace in Takum followed cooperation between the local government council and security agencies, alongside the support and political will of Governor Kefas.
Bako said the improved security situation had enabled residents to return to their farms, conduct businesses and participate in commercial activities with greater confidence.
“Today, our people can go to their farms, do their businesses and sleep with their two eyes closed. Our markets are bubbling again. This is a clear testimony of what good leadership can do,” he said.
He also commended the state government for its support towards infrastructural development, educational initiatives and other projects in Takum, urging the Kutumbu Group and other residents to support Kefas in the 2027 elections to enable him consolidate on his administration's achievements.
In their response, the leadership of the Kutumbu Group commended Governor Kefas for what they described as his commitment to peace, unity and development in the state.
The group also praised Bako for the infrastructural developments being witnessed in Takum under his leadership, expressing support for both the governor and the MATAGA movement.
The members pledged to mobilise support for Kefas ahead of the 2027 elections, although the extent of their proposed mobilisation was not independently established.
The meeting ended with a vote of confidence in Governor Kefas and the Takum council chairman, according to the statement.
