CAN @50: Dr Agbu Kefas Receives Christian Icon Award at CAN’s 50th Anniversary in Abuja

Governor of Taraba State, Dr Agbu Kefas, has received the prestigious Christian Icon Award from the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in recognition of his leadership and commitment to Christian values.

The award was presented on Saturday, October 17, 2026, at the National Christian Centre, Central Business District, Abuja, during activities marking CAN’s Golden Jubilee celebration.

Dr Agbu Kefas was represented at the ceremony by his Special Adviser on Christian Religion Matters, Very Rev. Fr. Sunday Patrick Muke, who received the award on his behalf.

According to the governor’s representative, Dr Agbu Kefas would have loved to attend the occasion in person but was unable to do so due to official engagements.

The governor congratulated CAN on its 50th anniversary, describing the milestone as a significant moment in the association’s history of faith, unity and service to God and humanity.

He also expressed appreciation for the recognition, which highlights the importance of responsible leadership, religious commitment and service to society.

The Golden Jubilee celebration brought together Christian leaders and other dignitaries to commemorate five decades of CAN’s contributions to promoting Christian unity and addressing issues affecting the Church and the wider Nigerian society.

INSECURITY:Bissaula Community Leader Raises Alarm Over Renewed Attack, Calls for Lasting Security Deployment.

A community leader in Bissaula Ward of Kurmi Local Government Area, Taraba State, Alhaji Idi Ismaila, has decried a fresh wave of violence that disrupted the fragile peace recently restored to the area. He made the remarks during a press briefing where he recounted the latest attack and appealed for urgent government intervention. INSECURITY: Two suspected kidnappers nabbed in Mayo Dassa, Jalingo.

Troops of six Brigade Nigerian Army headquarters ,Jalingo have dismantled a notorious kidnapping syndicate terrorizing parts of Jalingo and Lau Local Government Areas of Taraba State. A statement by Acting Assistant Director Army Public Relations Six Brigade Nigeria Army headquarters, Jalingo, Captain Olubodunde Oni says the Brigade act on an intelligence report and two suspects, identified as Ali Idi and Haruna Umar were apprehended early this week.
