AWARD: NUT Honours Jolly Nyame for Prioritising Teachers’ Welfare.

The Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Taraba State Wing, has honoured former Governor of Taraba State, Reverend Dr Jolly Nyame, with an award of recognition for prioritisation of teachers’ welfare during his tenure as governor.

The award was presented to the former governor during the 2026 World Teachers’ Day celebration held in Jalingo, Taraba State.

Speaking during the presentation, the Chairman of the NUT Taraba State Wing, Comrade Nathan Solomon, said Nyame was selected for the recognition based on what he described as the former governor’s record of giving attention to the welfare of teachers during his administration.

Solomon recalled that teachers’ salaries were paid regularly throughout Nyame’s tenure, saying the former governor remained a leader who would be remembered by teachers in the state for prioritising their wellbeing and welfare.

Receiving the award on behalf of Nyame, his aide, Hon. Celestine Kovona, expressed appreciation to the NUT for finding the former governor worthy of the recognition.

The Former Governor Reverend Nyame described teachers as nation builders who deserved better treatment for the development of a healthier society. 

He urged teachers across the state to remain committed to impacting knowledge and shaping the lives of pupils and students, whom he described as future leaders.

The former governor also congratulated the NUT family on the 60th anniversary of World Teachers’ Day and commended teachers for their contributions to education and national development.

INSECURITY:Bissaula Community Leader Raises Alarm Over Renewed Attack, Calls for Lasting Security Deployment.

A community leader in Bissaula Ward of Kurmi Local Government Area, Taraba State, Alhaji Idi Ismaila, has decried a fresh wave of violence that disrupted the fragile peace recently restored to the area. He made the remarks during a press briefing where he recounted the latest attack and appealed for urgent government intervention. According to Ismaila, the Bissaula community was thrown into panic on Wednesday, 19 November 2025, at about 8:00 p.m., when unknown gunmen, suspected to be members of the Ndaka-Chamba militia, stormed the village and opened fire. INSECURITY: Two suspected kidnappers nabbed in Mayo Dassa, Jalingo.

Troops of six Brigade Nigerian Army headquarters ,Jalingo have dismantled a notorious kidnapping syndicate terrorizing parts of Jalingo and Lau Local Government Areas of Taraba State.  A statement by Acting Assistant Director Army Public Relations Six Brigade Nigeria Army headquarters, Jalingo, Captain Olubodunde Oni says the Brigade act on an intelligence report and two suspects, identified as Ali Idi and Haruna Umar were apprehended early this week.
