POLITICS: NDC Crisis Deepens in Taraba as Exco Moves Against Tuida, Chairman Rejects Allegations.

The crisis within the Taraba State chapter of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has deepened, following a move by members of the State Executive Committee (SEC) to pass a vote of no confidence on the State Chairman, Ambassador Charles Tuida.

The aggrieved SEC members, in a statement issued on Thursday, September 10, 2026, said the decision followed emergency meetings of the State Executive Committee held on September 9 and 10, where they reviewed what they described as the deteriorating state of affairs within the party.

They claimed that more than two-thirds of SEC members had endorsed the vote of no confidence, citing alleged gross misconduct, financial mismanagement, anti-party activities, high-handedness and disregard for the party's constitutional organs.

The SEC members accused Tuida of allegedly running the party's finances without adequate consultation with or approval from the State Executive Committee. They also alleged that the chairman had failed to establish functional party structures at the local government and ward levels in line with the party's requirements. They further accused him of alleged clandestine dealings with opposition figures ahead of the 2027 general elections, claiming that such activities could undermine the electoral prospects of NDC candidates in the state.

The group also alleged that the chairman had taken major decisions unilaterally, sidelined statutory party organs, sponsored parallel factions and threatened executive members who challenged his leadership. Invoking Articles 14 and 18 of the NDC Constitution, the SEC members called on the national leadership to intervene urgently, warning that the unresolved crisis could negatively affect the party's fortunes in the 2027 elections. They also announced plans for an interim leadership in accordance with the party's constitutional succession provisions.

Meanwhile, the State Chairman, Ambassador Charles Tuida, has rejected the allegations and described the move against him as an attempt engineered by the NDC governorship candidate and some members of the State Executive Committee to remove him from office.

In a separate notice to the general public, Tuida strongly dismissed the allegations, describing them as false and sponsored by what he called “a few enticed EXCOs.” He maintained that he remains the duly elected Chairman of the NDC Taraba State Chapter and urged members of the public to disregard the allegations in their entirety.

The chairman's response has added a fresh dimension to the unfolding leadership dispute, with the rival positions now placing the matter before the party's national leadership and potentially the relevant constitutional organs of the NDC for resolution ahead of the 2027 general elections.

INSECURITY:Bissaula Community Leader Raises Alarm Over Renewed Attack, Calls for Lasting Security Deployment.

A community leader in Bissaula Ward of Kurmi Local Government Area, Taraba State, Alhaji Idi Ismaila, has decried a fresh wave of violence that disrupted the fragile peace recently restored to the area. He made the remarks during a press briefing where he recounted the latest attack and appealed for urgent government intervention. INSECURITY: Two suspected kidnappers nabbed in Mayo Dassa, Jalingo.

Troops of six Brigade Nigerian Army headquarters ,Jalingo have dismantled a notorious kidnapping syndicate terrorizing parts of Jalingo and Lau Local Government Areas of Taraba State.  A statement by Acting Assistant Director Army Public Relations Six Brigade Nigeria Army headquarters, Jalingo, Captain Olubodunde Oni says the Brigade act on an intelligence report and two suspects, identified as Ali Idi and Haruna Umar were apprehended early this week.
