POLITICS: Kefas’ Re-election: Campaigns Must Be Issue-Based, Peaceful — Baido.

The Director-General of the Dr Agbu Kefas Re-election Campaign Council, Hon. Danladi Baido, has urged supporters of the Taraba State Governor to embrace peaceful, issue-based campaigns as political activities commence across the state.

Baido, in a statement issued ahead of the lifting of the ban on governorship campaign activities on September 9, 2026, called on supporters and followers of Governor Kefas to conduct themselves with decorum and ensure that their campaigns reflect the positive virtues of the governor.

The statement was signed by Emmanuel Bello, Director, Media and Publicity/Spokesman, Dr Agbu Kefas Re-election Campaign Council.

He stressed that political campaigns should not be treated as warfare, noting that all political actors and aspirants deserve a peaceful environment to canvass for votes and pursue their political ambitions.

The campaign council’s Director-General also warned against thuggery and all forms of pre- and post-election violence, reiterating the Taraba State Government’s position against activities capable of threatening the peace and security of the state.

According to him, Governor Kefas has already demonstrated his commitment to peaceful politics through the Executive Order against thuggery, which, he said, extends beyond physical violence to include cyberbullying. He cautioned campaigners against name-calling, false accusations, insults, malinformation and false alarms on social media.

Baido further urged members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to remain steadfast and resist any temptation to take the law into their hands when provoked. He advised campaigners, both young and old, to focus their messages on issues and exercise responsibility in their use of social media.

He also appealed to media practitioners to maintain fairness, balance and professionalism in reporting the campaigns, assuring that the campaign council would work closely with the media as partners in promoting a peaceful electoral process.

A community leader in Bissaula Ward of Kurmi Local Government Area, Taraba State, Alhaji Idi Ismaila, has decried a fresh wave of violence that disrupted the fragile peace recently restored to the area. INSECURITY: Two suspected kidnappers nabbed in Mayo Dassa, Jalingo.

Troops of six Brigade Nigerian Army headquarters ,Jalingo have dismantled a notorious kidnapping syndicate terrorizing parts of Jalingo and Lau Local Government Areas of Taraba State. A statement by Acting Assistant Director Army Public Relations Six Brigade Nigeria Army headquarters, Jalingo, Captain Olubodunde Oni says the Brigade act on an intelligence report and two suspects, identified as Ali Idi and Haruna Umar were apprehended early this week.
