NPF: CP Edwin Ogbeghagha Assumes Duty as 34th Taraba Police Commissioner.

The Taraba State Police Command has announced the assumption of duty by CP Edwin Ogbeghagha, psc, mnips, as the 34th Commissioner of Police in the state.

CP Ogbeghagha officially took over the leadership of the Command on Monday, September 7, 2026, from CP Moorkwap Sebastian Dongshal, SM, ICM, psc(+), who has proceeded on retirement after a distinguished career in the Nigeria Police Force.

The new Commissioner of Police brings to Taraba vast professional experience and operational expertise acquired over the course of his career in the Nigeria Police Force. His deployment is expected to strengthen the Command's efforts in crime prevention, protection of lives and property and the maintenance of peace across the state.

In his first engagement with the people of Taraba, CP Ogbeghagha pledged to pursue proactive, intelligence-led and community-oriented policing as key strategies in tackling emerging security challenges.

He also stressed the importance of collaboration between the Police, other security agencies, traditional institutions, community leaders, the state government and residents in ensuring a safer Taraba.

The Commissioner called on members of the public to provide the Police with timely and credible information about suspicious activities, assuring residents that information supplied to the Command would be treated with the utmost confidentiality.

CP Ogbeghagha further warned criminals and their collaborators that the Command would remain resolute in confronting criminal activities and ensuring that offenders are brought to justice.

He assured the people of Taraba that their safety and security would remain his top priority, while urging residents to remain law-abiding, vigilant and security conscious.

INSECURITY:Bissaula Community Leader Raises Alarm Over Renewed Attack, Calls for Lasting Security Deployment.

A community leader in Bissaula Ward of Kurmi Local Government Area, Taraba State, Alhaji Idi Ismaila, has decried a fresh wave of violence that disrupted the fragile peace recently restored to the area. He made the remarks during a press briefing where he recounted the latest attack and appealed for urgent government intervention. According to Ismaila, the Bissaula community was thrown into panic on Wednesday, 19 November 2025, at about 8:00 p.m., when unknown gunmen, suspected to be members of the Ndaka-Chamba militia, stormed the village and opened fire. INSECURITY: Two suspected kidnappers nabbed in Mayo Dassa, Jalingo.

Troops of six Brigade Nigerian Army headquarters ,Jalingo have dismantled a notorious kidnapping syndicate terrorizing parts of Jalingo and Lau Local Government Areas of Taraba State. A statement by Acting Assistant Director Army Public Relations Six Brigade Nigeria Army headquarters, Jalingo, Captain Olubodunde Oni says the Brigade act on an intelligence report and two suspects, identified as Ali Idi and Haruna Umar were apprehended early this week. The statement adds that the culprits were captured during a raid at a local hotel in Mayo Dassa area of Jalingo metropolis where they were hiding.
