NDC Crisis: Tiuda Denies National Office Appointed Acting Chairman, Urges Calm

The Taraba State Chairman of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Ambassador Charles Tiuda, has dismissed reports that the party’s National Office appointed Richard Dauda as acting state chairman, describing the claim as a misrepresentation of the communication from the national leadership.

Tiuda, in a press statement issued to clarify the leadership crisis rocking the party in Taraba State, said no communique was issued by the National Office appointing Dauda to act as chairman.

He explained that the Office of the National Secretary had instead directed those involved in the dispute to return to Taraba and await the outcome of their petition, while he would continue to serve as state chairman pending the conclusion of the National Working Committee's (NWC) review.

According to him, the national leadership would communicate its final decision to the Taraba State chapter after reviewing the petition submitted against his leadership.

The NDC chairman also expressed concern over the manner in which allegations were levelled against him, saying some party members collected signatures against him without formally presenting the allegations or giving him an opportunity to defend himself.

Tiuda, however, called on aggrieved members to remain calm and allow the national leadership to resolve the dispute, adding that he had forgiven all those involved, irrespective of whether their allegations were right or wrong.

He thanked loyal party members and members of the public for their support, telephone calls and advice since the crisis began, while directing the State Publicity Secretary to immediately restore all members removed from the party's communication platform for expressing their views on the dispute and reinstate him as an administrator.

The chairman reaffirmed the need for party members to await the NWC's decision as efforts continue to address the leadership disagreement within the Taraba State chapter.

INSECURITY:Bissaula Community Leader Raises Alarm Over Renewed Attack, Calls for Lasting Security Deployment.

A community leader in Bissaula Ward of Kurmi Local Government Area, Taraba State, Alhaji Idi Ismaila, has decried a fresh wave of violence that disrupted the fragile peace recently restored to the area. INSECURITY: Two suspected kidnappers nabbed in Mayo Dassa, Jalingo.

Troops of six Brigade Nigerian Army headquarters ,Jalingo have dismantled a notorious kidnapping syndicate terrorizing parts of Jalingo and Lau Local Government Areas of Taraba State. A statement by Acting Assistant Director Army Public Relations Six Brigade Nigeria Army headquarters, Jalingo, Captain Olubodunde Oni says the Brigade act on an intelligence report and two suspects, identified as Ali Idi and Haruna Umar were apprehended early this week.
