NDC Crisis: Taraba Legal Adviser Declares Tiuda’s Removal, Interim Chair Appointment ‘Null and Void’.

The crisis rocking the Taraba State chapter of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has taken a legal dimension, with the party’s State Legal Adviser, K.M. Chiroma, declaring the purported removal of State Chairman, Ambassador Charles Tiuda, and the appointment of Comrade Richard Dauda Achiarege as interim chairman unconstitutional.

Chiroma, in a statement issued on Friday, September 11, 2026, said the action by some members of the State Executive/Working Committee to pass a vote of no confidence on Tiuda and appoint an interim chairman did not comply with the provisions of the party’s constitution.

The legal adviser said Article 2 of the NDC Constitution establishes the supremacy of the party’s constitution and makes its provisions binding on all members and organs in the conduct of party affairs. He further cited Articles 18 and 20 as providing mechanisms for disciplinary procedures, infractions and sanctions against erring members or officers.

According to Chiroma, the constitution also specifies the appropriate organ vested with the authority to appoint or ratify an acting or interim chairman, arguing that such powers were not vested in the members of the State Executive/Working Committee who purportedly took the recent decisions.

He consequently described the purported vote of no confidence, removal of Tiuda and appointment of Achiarege as interim chairman as “grossly unconstitutional” and a “total nullity,” insisting that the actions had no legal effect under the party’s constitution.

The legal adviser called for the status quo to be maintained, stating that Tiuda remains the State Chairman until his removal is effected through the procedure prescribed by the party constitution.

Chiroma also urged aggrieved members to channel their grievances through the party’s established dispute-resolution and disciplinary mechanisms, citing Articles 23, 18 and 20 of the constitution.

He specifically called on Achiarege to immediately desist from parading himself as interim chairman and urged those responsible to pull down social media posts and publications relating to his purported appointment.

Beyond the immediate leadership dispute, Chiroma appealed to NDC leaders and members to foster unity and avoid actions or statements capable of further polarising the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

“This is not about individuals. This is about institutions and the success of our collective goal as a party,” he said, stressing that adherence to constitutionalism, internal democracy, due process and the rule of law remained essential to the party’s stability.

INSECURITY:Bissaula Community Leader Raises Alarm Over Renewed Attack, Calls for Lasting Security Deployment.

A community leader in Bissaula Ward of Kurmi Local Government Area, Taraba State, Alhaji Idi Ismaila, has decried a fresh wave of violence that disrupted the fragile peace recently restored to the area. INSECURITY: Two suspected kidnappers nabbed in Mayo Dassa, Jalingo.

Troops of six Brigade Nigerian Army headquarters ,Jalingo have dismantled a notorious kidnapping syndicate terrorizing parts of Jalingo and Lau Local Government Areas of Taraba State.  A statement by Acting Assistant Director Army Public Relations Six Brigade Nigeria Army headquarters, Jalingo, Captain Olubodunde Oni says the Brigade act on an intelligence report and two suspects, identified as Ali Idi and Haruna Umar were apprehended early this week.
