The wife of the Chairman of Gashaka Local Government Council, Hajiya Hauwa Yusuf Alluran Gari, has taken the advocacy campaign on routine immunisation and primary healthcare strengthening to women at the grassroots.
Hajiya Hauwa, who serves as the Mama Ambassador of Gashaka Local Government Area, an initiative inaugurated by the wife of the Taraba State Governor, Mrs. Agyin Kefas, stepped down the advocacy campaign at the Primary Health Care Centre (PHCC), Garbabi.
The campaign brought together lactating mothers, pregnant women and health workers, with the Mama Ambassador donating baby pampers, detergents and other non-consumable items to participants.
Addressing the gathering, Hajiya Hauwa said the advocacy was aimed at sensitising women on the importance of attending antenatal and postnatal clinics, routine medical check-ups and ensuring that their children receive all recommended immunisations.
She said her priority was to ensure that women and children in Gashaka have access to essential healthcare services, in line with the vision of the Governor’s wife.
Quoting the popular adage, “Health is wealth,” she urged mothers and caregivers to make proper healthcare a priority and ensure that children under their care receive the necessary medical attention to enable them grow into healthy and productive members of society.
The Mama Ambassador disclosed that the advocacy campaign would be extended to Primary Health Care Centres across the ten wards of Gashaka Local Government Area.
She commended Governor Agbu Kefas and his wife for their efforts towards improving healthcare delivery and ensuring that women and children receive quality services across health facilities in the state.
Hajiya Hauwa also praised women who regularly take their children to health centres for routine immunisation, noting that such practices would help reduce child mortality associated with preventable diseases.
She further called for support for the continuity of Governor Kefas’ administration as citizens prepare for the 2027 general elections.
The Chairman’s wife reaffirmed her commitment to engaging women through health talks and awareness campaigns, particularly on preventive healthcare measures and disease prevention.
She also commended health workers at the PHCC Garbabi for their dedication to providing healthcare services to women and children in the community and urged them to sustain the effort.
One of the participants, Mrs. Agness Peter, appreciated Hajiya Hauwa for taking the advocacy campaign to women at the grassroots.
She said the initiative would encourage more mothers to consistently take their children to health centres for routine immunisation.
Mrs. Peter also commended Mrs. Agyin Kefas for championing initiatives aimed at improving healthcare services for mothers and children in Taraba State.
She added that the items distributed during the campaign would further encourage nursing mothers to patronise health facilities for routine immunisation and other essential services.
In his remarks, the Health Officer in Charge of PHCC Garbabi, Dennis Daniel, appreciated Hajiya Hauwa Yusuf Alluran Gari for choosing the facility to commence the grassroots advocacy campaign on routine immunisation.
He urged pregnant women and mothers to attend antenatal and postnatal clinics regularly and ensure their children receive the full schedule of routine immunisation.
The items donated during the campaign included baby pampers, detergents and other non-consumable materials.
