CONVOCATION: Nursing Is a Calling to Humanity, TSU HOD Tells Graduates.

The Head of the Department of Nursing Sciences, Taraba State University, Jalingo, Dr Kilor Nfor, has charged newly qualified nurses and midwives to approach their profession with dedication, compassion and a strong sense of responsibility.

Dr Nfor, a former Provost of the Taraba State College of Nursing and Midwifery, gave the advice shortly after the combined convocation ceremony of the Taraba State College of Nursing Sciences, Jalingo, where hundreds of graduates were formally admitted into the nursing and midwifery profession.

He reminded the graduates that nursing goes beyond earning a livelihood, describing it as a calling centred on the preservation of human life and the provision of compassionate care to patients.

According to him, nurses must exercise professionalism and caution in dealing with patients, stressing that the attitude of healthcare workers can significantly influence patients’ recovery and their overall experience within health facilities.

The university don also urged the graduates to maintain cordial working relationships with medical doctors, patients, relatives and other healthcare professionals, noting that effective teamwork is essential for quality healthcare delivery and improved patient outcomes.

Dr Nfor commended the graduates for their dedication, resilience and commitment to their studies, saying their perseverance had eventually paid off with their qualification as professional nurses and midwives. He urged them to remain committed to continuous learning and uphold the ethical standards of the profession.

The former Provost also commended Governor Agbu Kefas for what he described as significant investments in the education sector, saying the interventions would have far-reaching impact on human capital development and the future of Taraba State.

He particularly lauded the Governor’s free education policy and reduction in tuition fees, noting that the initiatives had provided relief to students and parents and created greater opportunities for young people to acquire quality education.

Dr Nfor further praised the administration for the remodelling and upgrading of infrastructure at the college, saying the development had enhanced the institution’s learning environment and strengthened its capacity to produce qualified nurses and midwives for the healthcare system.

He congratulated the graduates on their achievement and charged them to uphold the reputation of the institution by demonstrating professionalism, discipline, compassion and competence wherever they find themselves, stressing that their conduct would reflect not only on their profession but also on the institution and Taraba State.

INSECURITY:Bissaula Community Leader Raises Alarm Over Renewed Attack, Calls for Lasting Security Deployment.

A community leader in Bissaula Ward of Kurmi Local Government Area, Taraba State, Alhaji Idi Ismaila, has decried a fresh wave of violence that disrupted the fragile peace recently restored to the area. He made the remarks during a press briefing where he recounted the latest attack and appealed for urgent government intervention. According to Ismaila, the Bissaula community was thrown into panic on Wednesday, 19 November 2025, at about 8:00 p.m., when unknown gunmen, suspected to be members of the Ndaka-Chamba militia, stormed the village and opened fire. INSECURITY: Two suspected kidnappers nabbed in Mayo Dassa, Jalingo.

Troops of six Brigade Nigerian Army headquarters ,Jalingo have dismantled a notorious kidnapping syndicate terrorizing parts of Jalingo and Lau Local Government Areas of Taraba State. A statement by Acting Assistant Director Army Public Relations Six Brigade Nigeria Army headquarters, Jalingo, Captain Olubodunde Oni says the Brigade act on an intelligence report and two suspects, identified as Ali Idi and Haruna Umar were apprehended early this week.
