CONVOCATION: Kefas Reaffirms Education Priority, Charges 930 Nursing Graduates to Transform Healthcare.

JALINGO- Taraba State Governor, Dr Agbu Kefas, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to making education a top priority, describing quality education as a critical foundation for human capital development and sustainable growth in the state.

Governor Kefas said his administration would continue to create opportunities for Tarabans to acquire quality education and professional skills that would enable them to contribute meaningfully to the development of the state and the country.

The Governor, represented by the Speaker of the Taraba State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. John Kizito Bonzena, stated this at the combined convocation ceremony of the Taraba State College of Nursing Sciences, Jalingo.

While congratulating the 930 graduates convoked by the institution, Governor Kefas charged them to deploy the knowledge and skills acquired to improve healthcare delivery, particularly through professionalism, compassion and dedication to duty.

He commended the management and staff of the college for their commitment to training competent nurses and midwives, noting that the production of qualified healthcare professionals was essential to strengthening the state’s health sector.

Also speaking, the Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Dr Mike Dio Jen, urged the graduates to be worthy ambassadors of the college and Taraba State wherever they found themselves. He assured that the ministry would continue to support state-owned tertiary institutions with the necessary interventions to enable them fulfil their mandates of producing skilled and productive graduates.

Earlier, the Provost of the Taraba State College of Nursing Sciences, Dr Dorcas Dugule, described the convocation as another significant milestone in the history of the institution and an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of its graduates.

Dugule appreciated Governor Kefas for his support to the college and other education-related initiatives, assuring that the institution would continue to complement the administration’s efforts toward repositioning the education sector. She congratulated the graduates and urged them to uphold professionalism, discipline and compassion as they begin their careers as nurses and midwives.

INSECURITY:Bissaula Community Leader Raises Alarm Over Renewed Attack, Calls for Lasting Security Deployment.

A community leader in Bissaula Ward of Kurmi Local Government Area, Taraba State, Alhaji Idi Ismaila, has decried a fresh wave of violence that disrupted the fragile peace recently restored to the area. He made the remarks during a press briefing where he recounted the latest attack and appealed for urgent government intervention. According to Ismaila, the Bissaula community was thrown into panic on Wednesday, 19 November 2025, at about 8:00 p.m., when unknown gunmen, suspected to be members of the Ndaka-Chamba militia, stormed the village and opened fire. INSECURITY: Two suspected kidnappers nabbed in Mayo Dassa, Jalingo.

Troops of six Brigade Nigerian Army headquarters ,Jalingo have dismantled a notorious kidnapping syndicate terrorizing parts of Jalingo and Lau Local Government Areas of Taraba State. A statement by Acting Assistant Director Army Public Relations Six Brigade Nigeria Army headquarters, Jalingo, Captain Olubodunde Oni says the Brigade act on an intelligence report and two suspects, identified as Ali Idi and Haruna Umar were apprehended early this week.
