COLLEGE: NUTASS Calls for Calm as Taraba Govt Intervenes in Nursing College Security Crisis.

The National Union of Taraba State Students (NUTASS) has appealed for calm and peaceful conduct among students, residents and members of the Yagai community following the disturbing security situation involving students of the Taraba State College of Nursing Sciences, Jalingo.

In a press statement issued on Monday, September 21, 2026, and signed by its President, Comr. Nshukwi Yaje Mary, NUTASS said it was concerned about the reported incidents affecting students and residents in the area.

The union urged students, residents and other stakeholders to remain calm, peaceful and law-abiding, while allowing relevant authorities to address the situation.

NUTASS said it understood the anger, fear and frustration generated by the reported incidents but warned against actions capable of further escalating tensions or putting innocent lives and property at risk.

The students' body also disclosed that the Taraba State Government had intervened and was taking necessary steps to address the situation.

It commended Governor Agbu Kefas for what it described as his prompt intervention and responsiveness to concerns raised by students, particularly through the Secretary to the State Government.

According to the union, the intervention demonstrates the importance attached to the safety, welfare and protection of students and residents of the state.

NUTASS also commended students and members of affected communities for bringing their concerns to the attention of appropriate authorities, stressing that speaking out against insecurity and alleged injustice was important.

The union expressed confidence that individuals found responsible for alleged acts of violence, bullying, theft, harassment, rape and other criminal activities would be investigated and prosecuted in accordance with the law.

“NUTASS remains firmly committed to the welfare, safety, dignity, and protection of every Taraba student,” the statement said.

The union further pledged to continue engaging relevant authorities responsibly and constructively until appropriate measures are taken to restore lasting peace and security.

It reiterated its appeal for calmness, patience, unity and peaceful cooperation, urging residents and students to remain vigilant and law-abiding while allowing the authorities to carry out their responsibilities.

INSECURITY:Bissaula Community Leader Raises Alarm Over Renewed Attack, Calls for Lasting Security Deployment.

A community leader in Bissaula Ward of Kurmi Local Government Area, Taraba State, Alhaji Idi Ismaila, has decried a fresh wave of violence that disrupted the fragile peace recently restored to the area. INSECURITY: Two suspected kidnappers nabbed in Mayo Dassa, Jalingo.

Troops of six Brigade Nigerian Army headquarters ,Jalingo have dismantled a notorious kidnapping syndicate terrorizing parts of Jalingo and Lau Local Government Areas of Taraba State. A statement by Acting Assistant Director Army Public Relations Six Brigade Nigeria Army headquarters, Jalingo, Captain Olubodunde Oni says the Brigade act on an intelligence report and two suspects, identified as Ali Idi and Haruna Umar were apprehended early this week.
