CAMPAIGN: Bandodo Unveils ₦1bn Annual Development Plan for Zing, Pledges 20% State Capital Budget to LGAs

As political activities gather momentum ahead of the 2027 Governorship and State House of Assembly elections, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for Zing Constituency in the Taraba State House of Assembly, Hon. Genesis Emmanuel Bandodo, Esq., has unveiled an ambitious legislative agenda anchored on equitable development and stronger grassroots representation.

Bandodo, in a statement marking the commencement of the 2027 campaign season, pledged to sponsor a bill seeking to compel the Taraba State Government to allocate not less than 20 per cent of the state's annual capital expenditure to the 16 Local Government Areas if elected.

According to him, the proposed legislation would provide a statutory framework for more balanced development across Taraba and ensure that local governments receive a fair share of government capital interventions.

He said the proposed law would particularly guarantee Zing Local Government Area access to development projects and interventions worth at least ₦1 billion every fiscal year, in accordance with his campaign manifesto and commitment to the electorate.

Bandodo argued that persistent disparities in infrastructure and development across the state could not be resolved through political promises alone, stressing the need for deliberate policies backed by legislation.

“Our people deserve more than promises; they deserve a representative who will use the instrument of law to create lasting structures for development, accountability and equity,” he said.

The PDP candidate maintained that his legislative agenda would focus on purposeful, courageous and people-oriented representation, with emphasis on creating mechanisms capable of delivering sustainable development beyond individual political administrations.

He further cited his background and professional experience as a lawyer as an advantage that would enable him to contribute effectively to lawmaking, oversight and representation in the state legislature.

Bandodo also framed his candidacy as a generational choice, urging voters in Zing Constituency to look beyond the politics of the past and consider what he described as a new direction for the constituency.

“After two decades, the question is not whether the past should be respected. The question is whether Zing is ready for the next generation,” he stated.
