The Director-General of the Adamawa State Poverty Alleviation and Wealth Creation Agency (PAWECA), Dr. Michael Zira, has urged political parties, candidates and supporters to embrace restraint and issue-based campaigns as political activities intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Zira made the call on Monday in Yola when he received members of the TG-AK Progressives Support Movement 2027, who paid him a courtesy visit and formally appointed him as the group’s Grand Patron.

The appointment, according to the group, followed its assessment of Zira’s commitment and sustained support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) at both the state and national levels.

The PAWECA boss cautioned political actors against actions capable of overheating the political atmosphere, stressing the need for peaceful engagement and responsible political participation.

“Political activities are gathering momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections. We must caution citizens against overheating the polity. Let us play politics without bitterness so that the country can move forward,” he said.

Zira, while expressing optimism about the APC’s prospects in the forthcoming elections, pledged to collaborate with the movement in mobilising grassroots support for APC candidates across Adamawa State.

Earlier, the leader of the TG-AK Progressives Support Movement 2027, Williams Yakubu, said the organisation was established to galvanise grassroots support and goodwill for the APC ahead of the 2027 elections.

Yakubu explained that the movement, named after Tijjani Galadima and Adamu Kamale, was also seeking strategic partnerships with stakeholders to strengthen the party’s grassroots structure and broaden its reach across the state.

He commended Zira for his encouragement and willingness to work with the group, describing the partnership as a step towards strengthening grassroots mobilisation for the APC.

The highlight of the visit was the formal presentation of the appointment letter to Dr. Zira as Grand Patron of the TG-AK Progressives Support Movement 2027.
