The Mumuye Cultural Development Association Youth Wing (MCDAYW) has dissolved its existing State Executive Councils in Taraba and Adamawa States, paving the way for fresh elections within the next 40 days.
The decision was taken at the Association’s Extraordinary Annual General Meeting (EAGM), held on August 29, 2026, at Mumuye House, Mile Six, Jalingo, Taraba State.
The meeting, which attracted representatives and stakeholders from various chapters, deliberated on issues bordering on the unity, administration, development and future direction of the youth wing.
In a communiqué issued at the end of the meeting and signed by the National Public Relations Officer, Joachim Anthony Boduganian, Congress said the dissolution of the two state executives was necessary to create room for “fresh, credible and inclusive elections” capable of strengthening the democratic structures of the association.
To oversee the electoral process, the EAGM constituted a five-member Electoral Committee headed by Philip Bello as Chairman, while Linus Augustine and Philip Aloysius will serve as members. Mohammed Yahaya is also a member, with Kenneth Stephen serving as Secretary.
The committee was mandated to conduct elections in the affected state chapters within 40 days from the date of the EAGM.
Congress charged the electoral body to ensure transparency, fairness and broad consultation with relevant organs and chapters of the association throughout the electoral process.
The EAGM also ratified five committees to support the administration and development of the Youth Wing.
They include the Ruban Mumuye Media Committee, Mumuye Relief Services Committee, Business and Strategic Committee, Reconciliation Committee and Pledges Recovery Committee.
According to the communiqué, the committees were constituted with representation from different chapters to promote inclusiveness, unity and collective responsibility.
Particular emphasis was placed on the Mumuye Relief Services Committee, which has been given broad chapter representation to enhance its capacity to respond to the needs and welfare of members of the Mumuye community.
Congress further directed all the ratified committees to commence their duties immediately in line with the established guidelines of the association.
The committees are expected to receive letters of engagement in the coming weeks and report their activities and progress to the appropriate organs of the Youth Wing.
The MCDAYW, at the meeting, reaffirmed its commitment to unity, inclusiveness, accountability, reconciliation and democratic participation.
It also appealed to members and chapters to set aside differences and support the processes designed to build a stronger, more united and effective youth wing.
The resolutions, according to Congress, are part of broader efforts to reposition the MCDAYW and strengthen its structures for effective representation and service to the Mumuye people.
