COURTESY: ALGOCSN Taraba Seeks Stakeholders’ Support for Stronger Grassroots Governance.

 The Association of Local Government Council Secretaries of Nigeria (ALGOCSN), Taraba State Chapter, has intensified engagement with key political and institutional stakeholders as part of efforts to strengthen grassroots governance and development across the state’s 16 Local Government Areas.

The engagement followed the association’s three-day extraordinary forum meeting in Jalingo and was conducted from August 26 to 28, 2026, under the leadership of its State Chairman, Hon. Clarkson Andrew Nariniba.

During the courtesy visits, the delegation met with the Chairman of the Taraba State House of Assembly Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Rt. Hon. Abel Peter Diah; Director-General of the Kefas Campaign Organisation 2027, Hon. Danladi Baido; Speaker of the Taraba State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Kizito Bonzena Anthony; Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Taraba State Chapter, Hon. Moses Maihankali; and Chairman of Jalingo Local Government Council, Hon. Nura Danthoho.

Speaking during the engagements, Nariniba said the visits were designed to brief stakeholders on resolutions reached at the extraordinary forum and solicit their support for effective administration and development at the grassroots.

He said the association remained committed to fostering cooperation between Local Government Council Secretaries, elected council chairmen and other stakeholders in ensuring that government policies and programmes have meaningful impact at the grassroots.

According to him, the Forum would continue to operate with loyalty, transparency and diligence in supporting the council chairmen and the administration of Governor Agbu Kefas.

Nariniba also reaffirmed the commitment of the council secretaries to promoting stability and effective service delivery across the 16 LGAs.

The stakeholders, in their separate responses, commended ALGOCSN Taraba for demonstrating unity and taking proactive steps to engage relevant actors in the state’s political and governance architecture.

They pledged continued collaboration with the association, stressing the importance of collective efforts in ensuring that government programmes and development initiatives effectively reach citizens at the Local Government level.

The Speaker of the Taraba State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Kizito Bonzena, particularly praised the Forum for promoting gender inclusion within its leadership and activities.

He urged the secretaries to sustain the spirit of peace, unity and dedication to public service, stressing that effective grassroots administration remains critical to the overall development of the state.

The courtesy visits, according to the association, underscored its resolve to build stronger institutional relationships and contribute to improved coordination between the Local Government Councils and other levels of government in Taraba State.

INSECURITY:Bissaula Community Leader Raises Alarm Over Renewed Attack, Calls for Lasting Security Deployment.

A community leader in Bissaula Ward of Kurmi Local Government Area, Taraba State, Alhaji Idi Ismaila, has decried a fresh wave of violence that disrupted the fragile peace recently restored to the area. He made the remarks during a press briefing where he recounted the latest attack and appealed for urgent government intervention. According to Ismaila, the Bissaula community was thrown into panic on Wednesday, 19 November 2025, at about 8:00 p.m., when unknown gunmen, suspected to be members of the Ndaka-Chamba militia, stormed the village and opened fire. Their primary target was said to be Baba Umaru Gambo, a former youth leader of the community and current Commander of the Taraba Marshal in Kurmi Local Government Area. INSECURITY: Two suspected kidnappers nabbed in Mayo Dassa, Jalingo.

Troops of six Brigade Nigerian Army headquarters ,Jalingo have dismantled a notorious kidnapping syndicate terrorizing parts of Jalingo and Lau Local Government Areas of Taraba State.  A statement by Acting Assistant Director Army Public Relations Six Brigade Nigeria Army headquarters, Jalingo, Captain Olubodunde Oni says the Brigade act on an intelligence report and two suspects, identified as Ali Idi and Haruna Umar were apprehended early this week. The statement adds that the culprits were captured during a raid at a local hotel in Mayo Dassa area of Jalingo metropolis where they were hiding.  It adds that Further investigations led to the discovery that the gang's hideout was at Kona Mountain in Jalingo , where additional members of the syndicate were believed to be camped.
