TARABA STATE: TSUBEB DESCRIBES REPORT ON PVC SUBMISSION AS FALSE AND MISCHIEVOUS.

The Taraba State Universal Basic Education Board, TSUBEB, has debunked a viral social media report alleging that its Chairperson, Mrs. Christiana Binga, ordered teachers to submit photocopies of their Permanent Voter Cards, PVCs, or risk salary deductions.

In a rejoinder made available to newsmen in Jalingo on Wednesday, the Board described the claim as “false, baseless, and a deliberate misrepresentation of the Chairperson’s remarks.”

“For the avoidance of doubt, at no time did Mrs. Christiana Binga instruct teachers to submit photocopies of their PVCs as a condition for salary payment or for any other official purpose,” the statement read.

According to TSUBEB, what the Chairperson did was to encourage teachers and other education personnel to obtain their PVCs in order to exercise their constitutional right to vote during elections.

“She emphasized the importance of active civic participation and responsible citizenship,” the Board added.

The statement further noted that Mrs. Binga specifically advised all Education Secretaries “not to demand or request teachers’ PVCs, but to rather encourage them to register and obtain their cards solely for the purpose of exercising their franchise.”

TSUBEB said the attempt to distort the Chairperson’s statement was aimed at creating unnecessary anxiety among teachers and urged the public to disregard it.

“The Board therefore urges teachers, education stakeholders, and members of the public to ignore the false social media report and rely only on information disseminated through official TSUBEB communication channels,” it stated.

The Board reaffirmed its commitment to the welfare of teachers, the promotion of quality basic education, and the protection of the constitutional rights of every citizen.

INSECURITY: Two suspected kidnappers nabbed in Mayo Dassa, Jalingo.

Troops of six Brigade Nigerian Army headquarters ,Jalingo have dismantled a notorious kidnapping syndicate terrorizing parts of Jalingo and Lau Local Government Areas of Taraba State.
