CRIME: Outrage as 15-Year-Old Dies After Alleged Assault by Taraba Marshal Officers.

A 15-year-old boy, Busang Ayuka, has died after allegedly being assaulted by operatives of the Taraba Marshal in Baruwa, Gashaka Local Government Area of Taraba State, prompting calls for an independent investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The deceased, a resident of Angwan Alfa in Serti B, Gashaka LGA, was reportedly involved in a disagreement with a friend over an MP3 player and a power bank. The matter was said to have been reported to personnel of the Taraba Marshal, who allegedly assaulted the teenager.

According to information made available on Friday, the victim sustained severe injuries during the alleged assault and was initially taken to the CRCN Hospital in Baruwa. However, due to the severity of his condition, he was referred to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Jalingo, where he later died while receiving treatment.

The incident has sparked public concern, with renewed calls for a thorough, transparent and independent investigation to establish the facts and ensure accountability.

Reacting to the development, the Commandant of the Taraba Marshal, retired Commissioner of Police Agyole Asenya Abeh, said the agency operates strictly within the provisions of the law and that all personnel had been adequately cautioned to respect citizens' rights and carry out their duties lawfully.

He stated that any officer found to have acted outside the law would bear full responsibility for such actions.

According to the Commandant, the alleged incident does not represent the collective conduct of the Taraba Marshal.

He described culpable homicide as a serious criminal offence, noting that the statutory responsibility for investigating such allegations rests with the Nigeria Police Force.

Abeh also urged members of the public and officers of the Marshal Security Guard across the state to avoid reaching premature conclusions while investigations are ongoing.

As of the time of filing this report, there was no official statement from the Nigeria Police Force on the incident, while calls have continued for a comprehensive investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the teenager's death and ensure that due process is followed.

Troops of six Brigade Nigerian Army headquarters ,Jalingo have dismantled a notorious kidnapping syndicate terrorizing parts of Jalingo and Lau Local Government Areas of Taraba State.
