The race for the Jalingo/Yorro/Zing Federal Constituency seat has taken a legal turn as APC aspirant, Hon. Leah O. Solomon, filed a suit at the Federal High Court, Jalingo, contesting the validity of the party’s primary election held on 16th May 2026.
Court documents obtained by our correspondent show that Hon. Olusuyi, through her legal counsel, P.D. Pius Esq., contends that the purported primary election that produced Hon. Sadiq Abbas Tafida as the party’s candidate for the 2027 House of Representatives election did not comply with the required legal procedures.
Insiders familiar with the case say the suit was filed within the 14-day window stipulated under the Electoral Act for pre-election disputes, underscoring the aspirant’s prompt move to seek judicial intervention.
The Federal High Court has yet to fix a hearing date for the matter, leaving the party and other stakeholders in suspense as they await judicial guidance.
Legal analysts note that the case may set the tone for the pre-election litigation season in Taraba State, with the courts expected to play a pivotal role in resolving disputes arising from party primaries ahead of the 2027 general elections.
As the suit progresses, all eyes remain on the court’s ruling, which could influence the APC candidacy and shape the dynamics of the federal constituency race.
