The Danji SS Media Team has urged residents of Taraba State to carefully assess recent government initiatives as the state moves closer to the next election cycle.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the group expressed reservations about what it described as a surge in policy announcements and approvals by the administration of Governor Agbu Kefas, questioning the timing and implementation of some of the measures.
According to the statement, the administration has recently announced employment opportunities and other initiatives that, in the team's view, should have been pursued earlier in its tenure.
The group argued that despite significant allocations and loans received by the state over the past three years, many residents are still expecting the completion and commissioning of major projects. It suggested that recent actions may be aimed at addressing growing public concerns.
The media team also commented on reports regarding the procurement of school uniforms and bags, noting that local artisans and tailors could have benefited from such contracts. It further observed that only a limited number of schools have reportedly received the materials so far, while infrastructure challenges persist in several schools across the state.
The statement called for greater investment in local industries and skills development, stressing the importance of creating opportunities for indigenous businesses and craftsmen.
On workers' welfare, the group highlighted concerns about salary delays affecting some categories of workers, including members of the Taraba Marshals. It acknowledged recent efforts by the government to address some of these issues but maintained that more needs to be done to ensure prompt payment of salaries and allowances.
The team also questioned aspects of the state's recent mining restrictions, seeking clarification on the legal framework and implementation process. It called for greater transparency and stakeholder engagement in decisions affecting the mining sector.
Furthermore, the statement emphasized the need for inclusive governance, regular policy consultations, and effective project execution to address the developmental needs of the state.
The Danji SS Media Team expressed concern about rising poverty levels and urged government at all levels to prioritize sustainable economic empowerment programmes capable of improving livelihoods and reducing dependence on temporary assistance.
Reaffirming its support for the APGA governorship candidate, Hon. Danjuma Shiddi, the group stated that it believes accountable governance, local economic development, and people-oriented policies are critical to the future of Taraba State.
The team encouraged voters to carefully evaluate the performance, policies, and promises of all candidates and political parties before making their choices at the polls, emphasizing the need for leadership that will deliver long-term development and prosperity for the state.
