The African Action Congress (AAC) has elected Hon. Magaji Bulus Gago as its governorship candidate for the 2027 general elections in Taraba State following a consensus arrangement reached during the party’s governorship primary held in Jalingo.
The primary election, which attracted party executives, delegates and supporters from across the 16 local government areas of the state, was described by party leaders as peaceful, transparent and a reflection of the unity within the AAC ahead of the forthcoming elections.
Speaking at the event, the State Chairman of the party, Comrade Stanley Linus, who was represented by the State Secretary, Mr. Olorunnipa Adebayo, commended party members for their commitment and participation in the exercise.
He said the emergence of Hon. Gago through consensus demonstrated the confidence members of the party have in his leadership capacity, political experience and vision for Taraba State.
According to him, the AAC governorship flagbearer possesses the competence and grassroots appeal needed to provide purposeful leadership and reposition the state for growth and development.
The party chairman expressed optimism that the AAC would record victory in the 2027 governorship election, urging members and supporters to remain united and committed to the party’s ideals.
Comrade Linus also called on Tarabans and other stakeholders who desire positive change and sustainable development to rally support for Hon. Magaji Bulus Gago, stressing that the AAC remains determined to build a better future for the people of the state.
“With the emergence of our governorship candidate, the journey to engage and mobilise Tarabans across the state has begun in earnest. We are confident that the people will embrace our vision for a new Taraba,” he stated.
Responding shortly after his emergence, Hon. Magaji Bulus Gago appreciated party leaders and delegates for the confidence reposed in him and pledged to work closely with members of the party to strengthen the AAC across the state.
He assured supporters of his commitment to providing inclusive leadership, tackling developmental challenges and promoting policies that would improve the living conditions of the people if elected governor in 2027.
Political observers believe the emergence of the AAC candidate marks the beginning of intensified political activities in Taraba State as parties begin strategic preparations ahead of the next general elections.
