By Our Correspondent, May 15, 2026.

Aspirant for the Jalingo, Yorro and Zing Federal Constituency seat under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Princess Leah Olusiyi Solomon, has intensified her grassroots consultations ahead of the party primaries with an appearance at the 32nd Annual Convention of the Women Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria (WOWICAN), held in Zing Local Government Area of Taraba State.

The convention, which drew Christian women from the sixteen local government areas of the state, provided a platform for discussions on unity, faith, and societal development under the theme: “Building the Cultural Bridges Among Us Through Jesus Christ.”

Hon. Leah Solomon, who attended the event alongside her aides and supporters, commended the leadership of WOWICAN for sustaining and expanding the vision of the association’s founding members in Taraba State. She described women as critical stakeholders in nation-building and called for greater inclusion of women in leadership and elective positions.

Addressing participants at the gathering held at the United Methodist Church (UMC), Zing, the APC aspirant formally informed the women of her ambition to represent Jalingo, Yorro and Zing Federal Constituency at the National Assembly.

According to her, the time has come for the constituency to give women an opportunity to provide representation at the federal level, noting that men had dominated the seat over the years.

She maintained that empowering women politically and economically would translate into broader societal growth and development, stressing that women possess the capacity, compassion, and commitment required for effective leadership.

The National Assembly hopeful pledged to deliver quality and people-oriented representation if elected, promising to champion policies that would improve the welfare of women, youths, and vulnerable groups across the constituency.

Hon. Leah Solomon also used the occasion to mobilize support for the APC primaries slated for tomorrow, urging women and party faithful from Jalingo, Yorro and Zing to come out in large numbers to participate in the exercise and support her aspiration to fly the party’s flag in the 2027 general elections.

Meanwhile, the representative of Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, and Special Adviser on Christian Religious Matters, Very Reverend Father Sunday Patrick Muke, commended women for their continued support to the Kefas administration.

Speaking at the convention, the Governor’s representative reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to promoting religious harmony, education, and women empowerment in the state.

In support of WOWICAN’s initiative to establish a school in Taraba State, Governor Kefas announced a donation of twenty million naira towards the project, a gesture that attracted applause from participants at the convention.

The governor also appealed for sustained support from women across the state as he pursues his second-term ambition.

The annual WOWICAN convention featured prayers, worship sessions, lectures, and discussions aimed at strengthening unity among Christian women and fostering peaceful coexistence in Taraba State.
