APC PRIMARIES: Leah Solomon Raises Alarm Over Delay in APC Direct Primaries in Taraba.

By our Correspondent May 16, 2026.
Aspirant for the Jalingo, Yorro and Zing Federal Constituency seat under the platform of the All Progressives Congress, Hon. Princess Leah Olusiyi Solomon, has expressed concern over the delay in the conduct of the party’s direct primaries scheduled for Friday across Taraba State.

Hon. Leah Solomon raised the alarm after monitoring activities in the five wards of Zing Local Government Area, where party members and supporters had gathered in anticipation of the exercise.

Speaking with journalists shortly after the tour, the aspirant alleged that although information available to her indicated that sensitive materials for the conduct of the primaries had arrived in the state, there was uncertainty surrounding the distribution of the materials to the affected local government areas.

She lamented that hundreds of her supporters who reportedly arrived at various centres as early as 8:00 a.m. were left stranded for several hours without the presence of party returning officers or election materials.

According to her, the situation created confusion and anxiety among party faithful across Jalingo, Yorro and Zing federal constituency, as supporters waited in vain for the commencement of the exercise.

The APC aspirant called on the National Chairman of the party to urgently intervene and address the issues delaying the conduct of the primaries in the state.

Hon. Leah Solomon stated that her insistence on direct primaries stemmed from her commitment to democratic participation and her determination to serve the people of the constituency.

She maintained that despite the delay, her supporters remained peaceful, loyal and ready to participate in the process whenever the party officials and materials eventually arrived.

The aspirant also questioned whether a new date would be announced for the conduct of the House of Representatives direct primaries in Taraba State if the exercise could not hold as scheduled.

Meanwhile, observations from party collation centres indicated that members from the ten wards of Zing Local Government Area, eleven wards of Yorro Local Government Area and ten wards of Jalingo Local Government Area were present at their respective centres awaiting the commencement of the primaries.

Efforts to reach the APC State Publicity Secretary, Hon. Aaron Artimas, for official comments on the development were unsuccessful as of the time of filing this report.
