APC PRIMARIES: Rt. Hon. Bonzena Emerges APC Flagbearer for Zing Constituency Ahead of 2027.

The Speaker of the Taraba State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. John Kizito Bonzena, has emerged as the flagbearer of the All Progressives Congress for Zing State Constituency ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Bonzena was returned unopposed during the party’s primary election held in Yakoko, his hometown in Zing Local Government Area of Taraba State, following his endorsement by party members and constituents across the constituency.

Speaking shortly after the exercise, the Speaker expressed gratitude to party faithful and the people of Zing for the confidence reposed in him, describing the overwhelming support as a clear indication that the people appreciated his style of leadership and representation.

According to him, the fact that he emerged as the sole aspirant for the APC ticket reflected the trust and acceptance he enjoys among his constituents.

“I am deeply humbled by this endorsement and the support shown by the people of Zing. Their confidence in me is a challenge to continue to deliver quality representation and purposeful leadership,” he stated.

Bonzena pledged not to disappoint the electorate if re-elected in 2027, assuring that he would continue to champion policies and programmes aimed at improving the welfare of the people and attracting democratic dividends to the constituency.

The Speaker also commended party members for the peaceful conduct of the primary election, describing the exercise as a demonstration of unity and internal democracy within the APC in Zing.

He expressed optimism that the APC would record victory in the constituency during the 2027 general elections.

Also speaking, the Councillor representing Yakoko Ward, Hon. Victor Mathias, lauded party members and residents of the ward for turning out en masse to support Bonzena’s candidature.

Mathias reaffirmed the ward’s commitment to mobilising support for the Speaker, as well as for Governor Agbu Kefas and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the next general elections.

The representative of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Hajiya Amina Abdullahi, described the primary election as peaceful, transparent and orderly, commending party officials and members for their conduct throughout the process.

Similarly, the APC Returning Officer for Yakoko Ward, Hon. Paul Mazankwanti, said the exercise was conducted peacefully, noting that Bonzena received overwhelming support from party members as the sole aspirant in the race.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of Zing Local Government Council, Hon. Prince Evangelist Davoro Titus Gwandis, JP, applauded the peaceful atmosphere that characterised the primaries across the local government area.

He congratulated Bonzena on his emergence as the party’s candidate, describing the endorsement by constituents as a reflection of confidence in his leadership capacity and legislative performance.

Also commenting on the exercise, the APC Returning Officer for Zing Local Government Area, Dr. Livinus Ayih, commended party members for their maturity and peaceful conduct during the primary election process.

He noted that the orderly nature of the exercise further demonstrated the unity and readiness of the APC in Zing ahead of the 2027 polls.

INSECURITY: Two suspected kidnappers nabbed in Mayo Dassa, Jalingo.

Troops of six Brigade Nigerian Army headquarters ,Jalingo have dismantled a notorious kidnapping syndicate terrorizing parts of Jalingo and Lau Local Government Areas of Taraba State.  A statement by Acting Assistant Director Army Public Relations Six Brigade Nigeria Army headquarters, Jalingo, Captain Olubodunde Oni says the Brigade act on an intelligence report and two suspects, identified as Ali Idi and Haruna Umar were apprehended early this week. INSECURITY:Bissaula Community Leader Raises Alarm Over Renewed Attack, Calls for Lasting Security Deployment.

A community leader in Bissaula Ward of Kurmi Local Government Area, Taraba State, Alhaji Idi Ismaila, has decried a fresh wave of violence that disrupted the fragile peace recently restored to the area. He made the remarks during a press briefing where he recounted the latest attack and appealed for urgent government intervention. According to Ismaila, the Bissaula community was thrown into panic on Wednesday, 19 November 2025, at about 8:00 p.m., when unknown gunmen, suspected to be members of the Ndaka-Chamba militia, stormed the village and opened fire. Their primary target was said to be Baba Umaru Gambo, a former youth leader of the community and current Commander of the Taraba Marshal in Kurmi Local Government Area.
