The has commenced activities for the 2026 National Police Week with a public sanitation exercise and free medical outreach in Jalingo, the state capital.
The exercise, held on Monday, forms part of the nationwide programme initiated by the to mark the annual National Police Day celebration.
Leading the exercise was the Commissioner of Police, , alongside senior officers, rank-and-file personnel, members of the Police Officers’ Wives Association (POWA), and other stakeholders.
The sanitation campaign, which began at about 7:00 a.m., covered key areas of Jalingo, starting from the Command Headquarters through major streets and terminating at the . The initiative aimed at promoting environmental cleanliness while strengthening collaboration between the police and the community.
As part of the day’s activities, the Command also organized a free medical outreach for residents. Medical personnel provided basic health consultations, conducted check-ups, and distributed essential medications, particularly to vulnerable members of the public.
Speaking during the event, CP Dongshal said the National Police Week was designed to deepen police-community relations and encourage citizens’ participation in creating a safer and healthier society.
He reiterated the Command’s commitment to community policing and called on residents to continue providing credible information to aid crime prevention and safeguard lives and property.
The Command expressed appreciation to community leaders and members of the public who participated in the exercise, assuring residents of its continued dedication to maintaining peace, law, and order across the state.
The National Police Week is expected to feature a series of activities aimed at enhancing public trust and showcasing the service-oriented role of the police in society.
