DEFECTION: Kane Dumps Multiple Parties, Joins ADC in Taraba.

A political figure in Taraba State, Jeremiah Jacob Kane, has formally withdrawn his membership from several political parties and declared allegiance to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), in a move that could reshape grassroots political dynamics in Yorro Local Government Area.

In a notification addressed to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Taraba State office, Kane announced his immediate resignation from parties including the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), All Progressives Congress (APC), and All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), among others.

The letter, dated March 9, 2026, and routed through the Head of Department of Electoral and Political Party Monitoring, stated that his decision aligns with provisions of the Electoral Act as amended. Kane noted that his defection to the ADC is aimed at advancing his political ambition and career.

“I hereby notify the Commission of my withdrawal from PDP, APC, APGA, and all other political parties I was affiliated with, effective immediately,” he stated.

Kane further requested that his name be expunged from the membership registers of all previous political parties, affirming that he is now solely a member of the ADC.

The politician, who hails from Sumbu “A” Ward in Yorro LGA, also urged INEC to acknowledge and confirm his new party affiliation.

Copies of the correspondence were sent to key ADC officials, including the National Secretary, the Taraba State Chairman, the Yorro LGA Chairman, and the Sumbu “A” Ward Chairman.

Political observers say the move may signal strategic realignments ahead of future electoral contests in Taraba State, particularly within Yorro LGA, where local political structures remain highly competitive.

A community leader in Bissaula Ward of Kurmi Local Government Area, Taraba State, Alhaji Idi Ismaila, has decried a fresh wave of violence that disrupted the fragile peace recently restored to the area. INSECURITY: Two suspected kidnappers nabbed in Mayo Dassa, Jalingo.

Troops of six Brigade Nigerian Army headquarters ,Jalingo have dismantled a notorious kidnapping syndicate terrorizing parts of Jalingo and Lau Local Government Areas of Taraba State. A statement by Acting Assistant Director Army Public Relations Six Brigade Nigeria Army headquarters, Jalingo, Captain Olubodunde Oni says the Brigade act on an intelligence report and two suspects, identified as Ali Idi and Haruna Umar were apprehended early this week.
