Christians have been called upon to reflect deeply on their faith and embrace the virtues of peace, unity, and love as the Church marks Palm Sunday.
The Special Adviser to the Taraba State Governor on Christian Religious Matters, Very Rev. Fr. Sunday Patrick Muke, made the call in a message commemorating the significance of the day.
Drawing from the Gospel of Matthew 21:1–11, which recounts the triumphant entry of Jesus Christ into Jerusalem amid cheers of “Hosanna” and the waving of palm branches, the cleric described Palm Sunday as a gateway into Holy Week—a period for sober reflection on Christ’s sacrifice and unwavering trust in God’s divine plan.
He noted that while the day celebrates Christ’s kingship, it also serves as a reminder of the fleeting nature of human loyalty, urging believers to examine the depth and sincerity of their faith.
According to him, the humble entry of Jesus into Jerusalem underscores that true leadership is anchored on service, peace, and sacrifice, rather than power or pride.
Very Rev. Fr. Muke further encouraged Christians to set aside division and personal interests, allowing Christ to reign in their hearts as they journey through the solemn period of Holy Week.
He expressed hope that the observance of Palm Sunday would renew the faith of believers and inspire them to live as true children of God.
