A governorship aspirant in Taraba State, Professor Jerome Nyameh, has formally declared his intention to contest in the forthcoming gubernatorial election under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), pledging not to disappoint the people of the state.

Nyameh, popularly referred to by supporters as “The People’s Professor,” made the declaration in his home ward of Zing A2, following what he described as a collective call by youths, elders, and women in the community urging him to join the race.

Addressing a gathering of supporters during the declaration, Nyameh said his decision to contest was driven by the encouragement and confidence reposed in him by his people. He emphasized that his ambition is rooted in a shared vision for the progress and development of Taraba State.

“I will not disappoint Tarabans,” he assured, adding that the project ahead requires unity and collective effort. “This is a collective project; let’s do it together.”

According to him, the endorsement from his ward signals a growing grassroots momentum for his candidacy. Community members who spoke at the event expressed confidence in his leadership capacity, describing him as a credible and capable individual with the potential to transform the state.

They also offered prayers for his success and pledged their support, noting that his emergence as governor would usher in a new phase of development and good governance in Taraba.

Nyameh’s declaration marks an early move in what is expected to be a competitive political season in the state, as aspirants begin to position themselves ahead of party primaries.

He reiterated his commitment to inclusive leadership and calling on Tarabans across political divides to rally behind what he described as a people-driven mission to make the state greater.
