ASSOCIATION: HDTAN Fires Back at N28m Allegation, Reaffirms Isa Nawe as Authentic Taraba Chairman.

By our Correspondent, February 28, 2026.

The Heavy Duty and Haulage Transport Association of Nigeria (HDTAN), Taraba State Chapter, has dismissed as “malicious and unfounded” allegations of a purported N28 million diversion leveled against its State Chairman, Hon. Isa Nawe.

In a press statement issued Friday, the Association described the claim as a calculated attempt to mislead its members and tarnish the image of the chapter’s leadership.

Reacting to the allegation, Hon. Isa Nawe insisted that the accusation was orchestrated by individuals who are neither recognised nor registered members of HDTAN. He noted that the persons behind the claims had already been disowned by the Association’s National Leadership and therefore lack both the moral and legal standing to comment on the affairs of the Taraba State Chapter.

“For the avoidance of doubt, our financial records are properly documented and transparently managed in line with the Association’s constitution and financial regulations,” Nawe stated. He explained that all financial transactions are handled by the Financial Secretary and subjected to internal checks and periodic reviews to ensure accountability.

The controversy comes on the heels of an official letter dated February 26, 2026, signed by the National Secretary, Alhaji Murtala Mohammed, and the National President/Founder, Engr. Osigbemeh Emmanuel, in which the National body publicly disowned thirteen individuals in Taraba State accused of parading themselves as members and representatives of the Association.

According to the letter, the National Leadership reaffirmed Hon. Isa Nawe as the duly recognised and authentic Chairman of HDTAN in Taraba State, warning that any individual or group dealing with the disowned persons in connection with the Association does so at their own risk.

The statement further declared that anyone presenting himself or herself as Chairman of HDTAN in Taraba State other than Nawe is an impostor. It added that relevant security agencies, including the office of the Inspector General of Police, have been notified to safeguard the integrity and lawful leadership structure of the Association.

Calling for calm, Nawe urged genuine members of the Association to remain focused and law-abiding, and to disregard what he described as unfounded allegations aimed at destabilising the union.

He reiterated his commitment to transparency, accountability and the welfare of members across the state, while pledging to align the activities of the Association with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the development vision of Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas.

The leadership, he said, remains resolute and will not be distracted by attempts to undermine the Association’s progress in strengthening the haulage and heavy-duty transport sector for economic growth and stability in Taraba State.
