POLITICS: Taraba Sets Up Committees for Governor Kefas’ Defection to APC.

Ahead of the planned movement of Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), a comprehensive list of steering and sub-committees has been inaugurated to coordinate the event scheduled for Saturday, January 31, 2026.

The high-profile political gathering is expected to hold at the Jolly Nyame Stadium, Jalingo, and is being widely described as a major realignment in the state’s political landscape.

A Steering/Main Committee has been constituted to oversee the entire exercise, with former Senator Haruna Manu serving as Chairman. Other members include Senators Sani Danladi Abubakar, David S.U. Jimkuta, and Shuaibu Isa Lau, alongside key political figures such as Hon. Prince Ayuba Zaku, Rt. Hon. Peter Abel Diah, Hon. Danladi Baido, and Prof. Josiah Sabo Kente. Dr. David Ishaya will serve as Secretary of the committee.

To ensure smooth coordination, several sub-committees have also been put in place, covering critical areas such as security, media and publicity, youth and women mobilization, protocol, health services, logistics, feeding, religious affairs, and local government mobilization.

The Security Sub-Committee is chaired by Chief Barrister Gebon Timothy Kataps, with representatives drawn from the Army, DSS, Police, NSCDC, Immigration Service, and Taraba Marshals, reflecting heightened attention to safety and order during the event.

Media and Publicity activities will be coordinated by Barrister Zainab Usman Jalingo, supported by seasoned media practitioners and political communicators, while youth mobilization is being led by Dr. David Ishaya. The Women Mobilization Sub-Committee is chaired by Hon. Mrs. Mary Sinjen, underscoring efforts to ensure inclusive participation across gender lines.

Other strategic committees include the Local Government Mobilization team chaired by Rt. Hon. Abel Peter Diah; the Religious Mobilization Sub-Committee led by Hon. Rev. Titus Nagombe; and the Feeding/Entertainment Sub-Committee under the chairmanship of Rt. Hon. Josiah Sabo Kente. The Health Sub-Committee is chaired by Hon. Dr. Bordiya Buma, while Protocol and Accommodation matters will be handled by a team led by Hon. Adamu Sani Kona.

A special Protocol/VIP List Committee, chaired by Senator Sani Abubakar Danladi, has also been constituted to manage dignitaries expected from within and outside the state, including serving and former lawmakers and party leaders.

TARABA: Jenjo Youth Wing Disowns Magaji Gago’s Alleged Remarks Against Kefas, Reaffirms Loyalty.

The leadership of the Jenjo Youth Wing has publicly distanced itself from alleged remarks credited to Mr. Magaji Bulus Gago, popularly known as Max B, against Taraba State Governor, , and the Commissioner for Tertiary Education, . INSECURITY:Bissaula Community Leader Raises Alarm Over Renewed Attack, Calls for Lasting Security Deployment.

A community leader in Bissaula Ward of Kurmi Local Government Area, Taraba State, Alhaji Idi Ismaila, has decried a fresh wave of violence that disrupted the fragile peace recently restored to the area. He made the remarks during a press briefing where he recounted the latest attack and appealed for urgent government intervention. According to Ismaila, the Bissaula community was thrown into panic on Wednesday, 19 November 2025, at about 8:00 p.m., when unknown gunmen, suspected to be members of the Ndaka-Chamba militia, stormed the village and opened fire. Their primary target was said to be Baba Umaru Gambo, a former youth leader of the community and current Commander of the Taraba Marshal in Kurmi Local Government Area.
