By Jako,September, 27,2025.

In continuation of its peace campaign across Taraba State, the Advocate for Peace and Nation Building Initiative has taken its sensitization drive to schools in Jalingo.

Led by its Chairman, Comrade Gibson Timothy, the group visited Government Day Secondary School, Sabongari; Magami Government Day Secondary School; and Good Success Academy, Jalingo.

Speaking to students, Comrade Timothy emphasized the need for young people to serve as ambassadors of peace. He noted that harmonious living remains vital for societal progress and urged students to shun acts capable of undermining stability.

“As future leaders, you must champion the cause of peace by obeying laws and distancing yourselves from activities that threaten the unity of our society,” he said.

The chairman also commended Governor Agbu Kefas for prioritizing peace in the state and pledged the group’s support for the government’s efforts. On the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR), he appealed to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to deploy staff to schools so that eligible students could register for their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).

“With your PVCs, you can exercise your civic duty by electing leaders of your choice,” he reminded the students.

In their separate remarks, school administrators lauded the initiative. Mr. Eze Uchenna Godwin, Vice Principal (Administration) of Good Success Academy, described the advocacy as timely and assured that the school would continue to encourage students to be peace ambassadors.

Similarly, Mrs. Glory Simon Garpiya, Principal of Government Day Secondary School, Sabongari, commended the group’s efforts, stressing that peace building is a collective responsibility. “This initiative will help reawaken the consciousness of young people to promote peaceful coexistence,” she said.

At Magami Government Day Secondary School, Senior Master Comrade Usman Mohammed, who represented the principal, expressed gratitude for the choice of their school, noting that the campaign would have a lasting impact on the students.

Some of the students who spoke during the visit also appreciated the group for enlightening them on the importance of peaceful living and pledged to put the lessons into practice.

Farmers and herders once lived in uneasy but manageable coexistence until land sales, unchecked settlements, and political silence turned simple disputes into ethnic conflagrations. The echoes of those past crises are now knock...
