Former legislator representing Yorro Constituency in the Taraba State House of Assembly, Hon. Augustine Kata-Kata Kassa, has passed away at the age of 70.
Kassa, who also served as Commissioner in the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, died on Monday, August 25, 2025, after a prolonged illness.
Before venturing into politics, the late lawmaker worked as a classroom teacher. Over the years, he held several key positions, including Caretaker Committee Chairman of Yorro Local Government Council and, until his death, a member of the Local Government Pension Board in Jalingo.
Described by many as a humble leader, Kassa left a legacy of public service and community development.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Rebecca Augustine Kata-Kata, thirteen children, and twelve grandchildren. Among his children is Aaron Augustine Kata-Kata, who works with Yorro Local Government Area.
According to a statement from the family, a Christian wake will be held today at his residence in Kassa town, Yorro Local Government Area. He will be laid to rest tomorrow after a burial service at the United Methodist Church (UMC), Kassa charge, Town, followed by interment at the family compound.
