New ICAN Jalingo Chairman Pledges Commitment to Professional Excellence and Taraba’s Development.

The newly inaugurated Chairman of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), Jalingo and District Society, Abdulahi Aliyu Ibrahim, has vowed to uphold the core values of the accounting profession and contribute meaningfully to the development of Taraba State.

Abdulahi made the pledge during his investiture ceremony held in Jalingo, where he formally took over as the fifth chairman of the district society. He described his new role as a call to service and expressed gratitude to members for entrusting him with the responsibility.

He emphasized the need to build on the achievements of past leaders while unveiling plans to introduce innovative initiatives aimed at promoting professionalism, integrity, and excellence among ICAN members.

In his remarks, Abdulahi also appreciated the Governor of Taraba State, Dr. Agbu Kefas, for his administration’s support to the accounting profession, commending the state’s commitment to transparency and professional development.

In a valedictory speech, the outgoing Chairman, Ibro Bala, thanked members for their cooperation throughout his tenure.

 He highlighted key milestones recorded under his leadership, including the acquisition of land for the society’s permanent secretariat and the introduction of the "Catch Them Young" initiative—an outreach designed to encourage young students to pursue careers in accounting.

The event also witnessed the swearing-in of a new executive committee.

 The newly constituted team includes;
Ruth Mamai Ezekiel – Vice Chairman,
Maryam Danladi Gwampo – Deputy Chairman,
Sixtus Owuka Chinemere – Secretary General,
Egonu Peculiar – Assistant Secretary,
Bulus Ezekiel Michael – Financial Secretary

Others are Janet Toby Akinste – Treasurer
Happy Philimon – Social Welfare Secretary,
Friday Emmanuel – Membership Secretary,
Rilwanu Shuaibu – Technical Secretary.

The ceremony drew members of the accounting profession, government functionaries, and well-wishers who praised the society’s growing impact in Taraba State and expressed confidence in the new leadership’s vision and direction.

A community leader in Bissaula Ward of Kurmi Local Government Area, Taraba State, Alhaji Idi Ismaila, has decried a fresh wave of violence that disrupted the fragile peace recently restored to the area.
