In a significant step toward enhancing agricultural productivity and ensuring food security, Hon. Sadiq Abbas Tafida, the Member representing Jalingo/Yorro/Zing Federal Constituency, has launched the distribution of 550 bags of fertilizer valued at ₦25 million to farmers across his constituency.

The distribution exercise, which comes at the peak of the 2025 rainy season, is part of the lawmaker’s ongoing constituency intervention programs designed to empower farmers, improve crop yields, and sustain rural livelihoods.

Speaking at the flag-off event through a representative, Hon. Tafida emphasized the critical importance of supporting farmers during the planting season. He reaffirmed his commitment to agriculture and economic empowerment, highlighting that the initiative is not just a gesture, but a strategic investment in the future of local communities.

“Our farmers are the backbone of our economy,” Tafida stated. “At this crucial time, we must stand with them. This fertilizer distribution is not just about farming—it’s about food security, poverty alleviation, and grassroots development.”

The lawmaker also noted that the distribution will be conducted in partnership with district heads (Dagacis) and other key community stakeholders in Jalingo, Yorro, and Zing local government areas to ensure fairness and transparency.

The initiative has drawn widespread commendation from community leaders, political stakeholders, and beneficiaries, who praised Hon. Tafida for his responsive leadership. Many described the intervention as timely and impactful, particularly at a time when many farmers face rising input costs and uncertain weather patterns.

“This is what true representation looks like,” said one beneficiary in Zing. “Hon. Tafida is showing us that leadership is about action, not just words.”

With this intervention, Hon. Tafida continues to build on his record of community-focused initiatives, reinforcing his position as a representative committed to sustainable development and the welfare of his constituents.
