ARMY: COAS COMMISSIONS NEW STUDENT SOLDIERS' HOSTEL, PLEDGES MORE BEFITTING FACILITIES FOR EFFECTIVE LEARNING.

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) has in furtherance of his commitment to prioritize soldiers' welfare commissioned the newly constructed Student Soldiers’ Hostel at the Nigerian Army School of Signals (NASS) in Apapa Lagos. The commissioning, which took place on Friday 28 February 2025, demonstrates the COAS' resolve to put soldiers of the Nigerian Army (NA) first by providing an effective learning environment, in tandem with his "Soldier-First" culture.

Delivering his address, General Oluyede promised to embark on more standard projects and rehabilitation of dilapidated structures into befitting ones.

He urged all personnel to adopt a healthy maintenance culture required to sustain the newly constructed facility.

Director Army Public Relations,Major General Onyema Nwachukwu issued this in a Press statement on 28 February 2025.

Earlier, in his welcome remarks, the Commandant NASS Maj Gen Philip Ilodibia appreciated the COAS for authorizing the funding of the project.

He noted that the lack of befitting accommodation has been one of the school's most pressing challenges over the years, adding that the commissioned project was not only timely but a significant milestone towards repositioning the school to take its rightful place as a leading citadel of excellence in the field of Combat Communication, Telecommunication, Engineering and Information Technology.

The Army Chief later proceeded to 68 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital Yaba, where he also commissioned a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)Center to enhance adequate medical care for personnel and paid a visit to in-patients at the hospital.

Dignitaries who graced the commissioning ceremony were the Commander Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) Major General Kevin Aligbe, Principal Staff officers from Defence and Services Headquarters, Commander Corps of Signals Maj Gen Nosaghare Ugbo, General Officer Commanding 81 Division Maj Gen Farouk Mijinyawa, Maj Gen Danbata rtd former Corps Commander Signals, among other dignitaries.

Troops of six Brigade Nigerian Army headquarters ,Jalingo have dismantled a notorious kidnapping syndicate terrorizing parts of Jalingo and Lau Local Government Areas of Taraba State. INSECURITY:Bissaula Community Leader Raises Alarm Over Renewed Attack, Calls for Lasting Security Deployment.

A community leader in Bissaula Ward of Kurmi Local Government Area, Taraba State, Alhaji Idi Ismaila, has decried a fresh wave of violence that disrupted the fragile peace recently restored to the area. He made the remarks during a press briefing where he recounted the latest attack and appealed for urgent government intervention. According to Ismaila, the Bissaula community was thrown into panic on Wednesday, 19 November 2025, at about 8:00 p.m., when unknown gunmen, suspected to be members of the Ndaka-Chamba militia, stormed the village and opened fire.
