GBV: WOWICAN Calls for support to end Gender Based Violence in Taraba State.

The need for Tarabans to support the course of containing Gender Based Violence GBV has been stressed.

Chairperson Women Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria WOWICAN Taraba State Chapter Deaconess Mercy Sambo made appeal at event marking sixteen days Activism against Gender Based Violence.

She said the United Nations,UN Women in conjunction with the association organised the interactive session to create more awareness on dangers of Gender Based Violence and the need to speak out about violation or abuses.

Mercy Sambo remarked that the struggle for a quest to reduce Gender Based Violence GBV,such as rape, molestation, battery and child abuse are collective responsibility.

In her presentation, a Principal Legal Counsel with Taraba State Ministry of Justice Shalom Maijankai warned parents and students not to marry out their underaged girls but empower them through Education and skills to be self reliant.

She remarked that the Taraba State Violence Against Persons Prohibition VAPP law twenty twenty one provide punishmentsfor offenders.

She appreciated the WOWICAN and UN-Women for championing the course create awareness about GBV and advocated justice for survivors in Taraba State.

INSECURITY:Bissaula Community Leader Raises Alarm Over Renewed Attack, Calls for Lasting Security Deployment.

A community leader in Bissaula Ward of Kurmi Local Government Area, Taraba State, Alhaji Idi Ismaila, has decried a fresh wave of violence that disrupted the fragile peace recently restored to the area. He made the remarks during a press briefing where he recounted the latest attack and appealed for urgent government intervention. According to Ismaila, the Bissaula community was thrown into panic on Wednesday, 19 November 2025, at about 8:00 p.m., when unknown gunmen, suspected to be members of the Ndaka-Chamba militia, stormed the village and opened fire. INSECURITY: Two suspected kidnappers nabbed in Mayo Dassa, Jalingo.

Troops of six Brigade Nigerian Army headquarters ,Jalingo have dismantled a notorious kidnapping syndicate terrorizing parts of Jalingo and Lau Local Government Areas of Taraba State. A statement by Acting Assistant Director Army Public Relations Six Brigade Nigeria Army headquarters, Jalingo, Captain Olubodunde Oni says the Brigade act on an intelligence report and two suspects, identified as Ali Idi and Haruna Umar were apprehended early this week.
