football stakeholders, ex-internationals and fans have called for the sacking of the team’s coach, Gernot Rohr.

The Eagles suffered a shock 1-0 defeat in Lagos to end their 100 per cent start to the 2022 World Cup qualifiers against a team who are rated 123rd in the world.

Known for their wing play that had the likes of Finidi George, Tijani Babangida, Emmanuel Amuneke rated as some of the best wingers in the world, the present Eagles under Rohr looks strange to their fans with their uncoordinated display and undefined pattern of play.

Under the Franco-German tactician, fans had been left bitterly disappointed, sad and angry.

On June 10, 2017, thousands of fans at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo were stunned as South Africa beat Rohr’s Eagles 2-0 to claim a famous win in an AFCON qualifier, hence bringing an end to the Eagles dominance over the Bafana Bafana.

It was the first time ever that the Eagles had lost to South Africa in a competitive fixture in close to three decades.

Rohr’s men again blew a four-goal lead in Benin City in another AFCON qualifier last November against Sierra Leone, with angry fans venting their anger and attacking the team bus.

INSECURITY: Two suspected kidnappers nabbed in Mayo Dassa, Jalingo.

Troops of six Brigade Nigerian Army headquarters ,Jalingo have dismantled a notorious kidnapping syndicate terrorizing parts of Jalingo and Lau Local Government Areas of Taraba State.  A statement by Acting Assistant Director Army Public Relations Six Brigade Nigeria Army headquarters, Jalingo, Captain Olubodunde Oni says the Brigade act on an intelligence report and two suspects, identified as Ali Idi and Haruna Umar were apprehended early this week. The statement adds that the culprits were captured during a raid at a local hotel in Mayo Dassa area of Jalingo metropolis where they were hiding.  It adds that Further investigations led to the discovery that the gang's hideout was at Kona Mountain in Jalingo , where additional members of the syndicate were believed to be camped. RELIGION: UMC-N Bishop Ande Emmanuel decries continual tensions,calls on Gov.Agbu to waive into the matter.

The Resident Bishop United Methodist Church Nigeria  Episcopal Area, Ande Emmanuel has decried continual tensions impacting the church in Nigeria. The Bishop, in a Press briefing in Jalingo, condemned any act of violence or disrespect to the church, referencing the attack at Banyan Theological Seminary in the Bambur Community of Karim Lamido Local government area.
