YOUTHS: Taraba Poly Lecturer Commends Kefas’ Efforts to Protect Youths, Hails Drug Control Initiative.

A Senior Lecturer at the Taraba State Polytechnic, Suntai, Jalingo Campus, Mr Kamalu Aliyu Babando, has commended the efforts of the Taraba State Government under Governor Agbu Kefas to protect the future of youths in the state.

Babando, who made the commendation in an interview, particularly applauded the constitution of the Government Council on Drug Control and Social Renewal, describing the initiative as a significant step towards tackling the growing menace of drug and substance abuse among young people.

He expressed concern over the alarming rate at which youths are engaging in drug and substance abuse, stressing that the trend poses a serious threat to their future and the overall development of the state.

According to him, the situation requires concerted efforts from the government, parents, educational institutions, traditional and religious leaders, civil society organisations and other stakeholders to effectively address the menace.

The Senior Lecturer also commended the Governor for issuing executive orders targeting drug abuse, illegal mining and political thuggery, noting that the measures were aimed at creating a safer environment and safeguarding the future of Taraba youths.

Babando said the fight against drug abuse and other social vices should not be left solely to government, urging stakeholders to intensify public enlightenment and mentorship programmes that would encourage youths to make responsible choices.

He further called for proper guidance of youths as the 2027 electioneering activities gradually approach, urging them to participate actively in the democratic process without allowing themselves to be used for violence, thuggery or other unlawful activities.

He stressed that youths have the right to support candidates of their choice but must do so peacefully and within the provisions of the law.

Babando maintained that protecting the future of Taraba youths requires sustained investment in education, skills acquisition, employment opportunities and positive youth engagement, adding that responsible and empowered young people would play a critical role in the development of the state.

INSECURITY:Bissaula Community Leader Raises Alarm Over Renewed Attack, Calls for Lasting Security Deployment.

A community leader in Bissaula Ward of Kurmi Local Government Area, Taraba State, Alhaji Idi Ismaila, has decried a fresh wave of violence that disrupted the fragile peace recently restored to the area. INSECURITY: Two suspected kidnappers nabbed in Mayo Dassa, Jalingo.

Troops of six Brigade Nigerian Army headquarters ,Jalingo have dismantled a notorious kidnapping syndicate terrorizing parts of Jalingo and Lau Local Government Areas of Taraba State. A statement by Acting Assistant Director Army Public Relations Six Brigade Nigeria Army headquarters, Jalingo, Captain Olubodunde Oni says the Brigade act on an intelligence report and two suspects, identified as Ali Idi and Haruna Umar were apprehended early this week.
