Some youths from the neighbourhood of the Executive Chairman of Takum Local Government Council, Hon. Bako Benjamin, have paid a solidarity and appreciation visit to the council chairman, commending his administration for prioritising youth empowerment and economic inclusion.
The youths, who visited the chairman at his office on Friday, expressed appreciation for various initiatives designed to provide young people with opportunities for employment, skills development and self-reliance.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, the youths commended Bako for what they described as his commitment to youth development, noting that the empowerment programmes had positively impacted the lives of young people across Takum Local Government Area.
They disclosed that more than 143 young men and women had benefited from various empowerment initiatives introduced by the administration in the last few months.
They particularly highlighted the engagement of 25 beneficiaries as Vehicle Inspection Officers (VIOs) under the state government, describing the opportunity as a significant step towards tackling youth unemployment and building the capacity of young people in the area.
The beneficiaries pledged their continued support for the administration and encouraged other youths to take advantage of government empowerment programmes to become economically productive and contribute to community development.
Responding, the Executive Chairman of Takum Local Government Council, Hon. Bako Benjamin thanked the youths for the visit and reaffirmed his administration's commitment to expanding opportunities for young people in Takum.
The chairman urged the youths to remain law-abiding, focused and responsible, stressing the need for beneficiaries to utilise the opportunities provided by government to contribute meaningfully to the development of the local government.
He further assured that more empowerment initiatives, skills acquisition programmes and employment opportunities would be introduced, with a commitment to ensuring that no young person in Takum is left behind.
