WORKSHOP: Takum Chairman Completes Leadership, Peacekeeping Training at Jaji.

The Executive Chairman of Takum Local Government Council, Hon. Bako Benjamin, has completed an intensive Leadership and Peace Support Programme at the Martin Luther Agwai International Leadership and Peacekeeping Centre, Jaji, Kaduna State.

The week-long training, sponsored by the Taraba State Government under the leadership of Governor Agbu Kefas, brought together local government council chairmen, members of the Taraba State House of Assembly, senior political appointees and other key government officials.

The programme focused on strengthening leadership capacity and equipping participants with practical strategies for conflict prevention, peacebuilding, security management and sustainable development.

Participants described the training as more than an academic exercise, saying it provided a platform for leaders to brainstorm on contemporary approaches to peacebuilding, drawing on the expertise of renowned peace scholars, security professionals and conflict-resolution practitioners.

Speaking on the significance of the programme, the Personal Assistant to the Takum Chairman, Hon. Monday Ekijere, said the training came at a critical time for Takum Local Government, where efforts to consolidate peace and strengthen community relations remain a priority.

Ekijere said Hon. Bako Benjamin had, since assuming office, demonstrated commitment to bridging existing peace gaps and promoting reconciliation among communities in Takum and neighbouring areas.

«“Leadership is about learning and improving. The Chairman went to Jaji not just to attend a course, but to bring back new strategies for peace, security and development,” Ekijere said.»

He attributed the relative calm being experienced in parts of Takum to deliberate efforts by the council leadership to promote reconciliation, community engagement and inclusive dialogue.

According to him, the knowledge and skills acquired at the Martin Luther Agwai Centre would further strengthen the council’s capacity in critical areas, including early-warning mechanisms, youth engagement, border security and inter-communal dialogue.

“These are key areas that must be strengthened if we are to sustain the peace currently being enjoyed in Takum,” he added.

Ekijere further reaffirmed the chairman’s commitment to translating the knowledge acquired from the programme into practical initiatives that would enhance peace, security and development across communities in Takum Local Government Area.

He said the council would continue to work in line with the broader vision of the Governor Agbu Kefas administration, particularly in strengthening grassroots leadership, promoting peaceful coexistence and creating an environment conducive to sustainable development.

The Martin Luther Agwai International Leadership and Peacekeeping Centre, Jaji, Kaduna State, is recognised as a major institution for training in peace support operations, conflict management, leadership and civil-military relations.

The completion of the programme is expected to further enhance the capacity of participating Taraba leaders to respond effectively to emerging security and peacebuilding challenges across the state.

INSECURITY:Bissaula Community Leader Raises Alarm Over Renewed Attack, Calls for Lasting Security Deployment.

A community leader in Bissaula Ward of Kurmi Local Government Area, Taraba State, Alhaji Idi Ismaila, has decried a fresh wave of violence that disrupted the fragile peace recently restored to the area. He made the remarks during a press briefing where he recounted the latest attack and appealed for urgent government intervention. INSECURITY: Two suspected kidnappers nabbed in Mayo Dassa, Jalingo.

Troops of six Brigade Nigerian Army headquarters ,Jalingo have dismantled a notorious kidnapping syndicate terrorizing parts of Jalingo and Lau Local Government Areas of Taraba State.  A statement by Acting Assistant Director Army Public Relations Six Brigade Nigeria Army headquarters, Jalingo, Captain Olubodunde Oni says the Brigade act on an intelligence report and two suspects, identified as Ali Idi and Haruna Umar were apprehended early this week.
